"Giving charity to a poor person is charity, and (giving) to a relative is two things, charity and upholding the ties of kinship."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَعَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

the Messenger of Allah said: “Charity given to the poor is charity, and that given to a relative is two things: charity and upholding the ties of kinship.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَهِيَ عَلَى ذِي الْقَرَابَةِ اثْنَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

[AI] A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about which charity is best. He replied, "Charity given to one's relative who is in need."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّدَقَاتِ أَيُّهَا أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»

"Giving charity to a poor person is charity, and (giving) to a relative is two things, charity and upholding the ties of kinship." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2582)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَإِنَّهَا عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ»

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَالصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "With the child's birth, offer a sacrifice and remove any harm from him. And I heard him say: Your charity to the poor is a charity, and it is considered a charity for your relatives as well."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَعَ الْغُلَامِ عَقِيقَتُهُ فَأَهْرِيقُوا عَنْهُ دَمًا وأَمِيطُوا عَنْهُ الْأَذَى وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ صَدَقَتُكَ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَهِيَ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ ثِنْتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَالصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

[AI] Sufyan used to pray with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, facing both Qiblas. He said, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "The best charity is that given by a person with surplus wealth to his relatives."

سُفْيَانُ وَكَانَتْ قَدْ صَلَّتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ﷺ «سَقْيُ الْمَاءِ»

[AI] It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, which charity is the best?" He said, "Charity given to a needy relative."

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best charity is to give to a relative who is in need and who dislikes asking."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّدَقَةِ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»

[AI] On the authority of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the best charity is the charity given to one's relative who is in need and is also poor."

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّدَقَةِ الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Giving charity to the poor is a charity, and giving charity to a relative is a charity and maintaining ties of kinship."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَعَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Your charity towards a Muslim is a form of charity, and towards a relative it counts as both charity and upholding ties of kinship.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صَدَقَتُكَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ صَدَقَةٌ وَعَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ ثِنْتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your giving charity to the poor is a single charity, while your giving charity to a relative is two charities: charity and upholding family ties."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَدَقَتُكَ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصَدَقَتُكَ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ صَدَقَتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ

[AI] Sufyanah used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at both Qiblas. She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best charity is that given by a person who has little but still gives from it."
