The Prophet ﷺ and his companions assumed Ihram for Hajj and none except the Prophet ﷺ and Talha had the Hadi with them. ʿAli had come from Yemen and he had the Hadi with him. He (ʿAli) said, "I have assumed Ihram with an intention like that of Messenger of Allah ﷺ has assumed it." The Prophet ﷺ ordered his companions to intend the Ihram with which they had come for ʿUmra, to perform the Tawaf of the Kaʿba (and between Safa and Marwa), to get their hair cut short and then to finish their Ihram with the exception of those who had the Hadi with them. They asked, "Shall we go to Mina and the private organs of some of us are dribbling (if we finish Ihram and have sexual relations with our wives)?" The Prophet heard that and said, "Had I known what I know now, I would not have brought the Hadi. If I did not have the Hadi with me I would have finished my Ihram." ʿAisha got her menses and performed all the ceremonies (of Hajj) except the Tawaf . So when she became clean from her menses, and she had performed the Tawaf of the Kaʿba, she said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! You (people) are returning with both Hajj and ʿUmra and I am returning only with Hajj!" So, he ordered ʿAbdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr to go with her to at-Tanʿim. Thus she performed ʿUmra after the Hajj in the month of Dhi-l-Hijja. Suraqa bin Malik bin Ju'sham met the Prophet ﷺ at Al-ʿAqaba (Jamrat-ul 'Aqaba) while the latter was stoning it and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Is this permissible only for you?" The Prophet replied, "No, it is for ever (i.e. it is permissible for all Muslims to perform ʿUmra before Hajj." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1785)

So, I took it and some people who heard about it found it to be five hundred (dirhams). I took it and went to him (Abu Bakr), but he did not give me anything. Then, I went to him again, but he did not give me anything. Then, I went to him for the third time and he did not give me anything. So, I said, "Either you should give me or be stingy towards me." He said, "Did you say that I am being stingy towards you? And which disease is worse than stinginess? Whenever you asked me for something, I always wanted to give it to you."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he has fasted the entire year."

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

ahmad:14304Sufyān > al-Aswad > Nubayḥ

[Machine] From Nubayh, from Jabir, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from approaching women, but we still approached them afterwards.

ahmad:14305Sufyān > al-Aswad > Nubayḥ > Jābir

[Machine] Narrated by Nubayh, from Jabir, that the Prophet ﷺ ordered the captives of the Battle of Uhud to be returned to their families.

ahmad:14306Sufyān > ʿAmr > Jābir

[Machine] To the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I said: "Did you marry?" He said: "Yes." I said: "A virgin or a divorced woman?" I said: "A divorced woman." He said: "Why not a virgin, with whom you could play and who could play with you?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father was killed on the day of Uhud, leaving behind nine daughters. I disliked that I would gather a mother for them who was like them (in age)." But a woman who would comb their hair and take care of them." He said: "You have made the right choice."

ahmad:14307Sufyān

Mu’adh b. Jabal used to pray along with the Prophet ﷺ; then he returned and led us in prayer. Sometimes he (the narrator) said: then he returned and led his people in prayer. One night the Prophet ﷺ delayed the prayer. Sometimes he (the narrator) mentioned the word “the night prayer”. Then Mu’adh prayed along with the Prophet ﷺ, then returned to his people and led them in prayer, and recited Surat al-Baqarah. A man turned aside and prayed alone. The people said to him: Have you become a hypocrite, so and so? He replied: I did not become a hypocrite. He then came to the Prophet ﷺ and said (to him): Messenger of Allah, Mu’adh prays along with you and then returns and leads us in prayers. We look after camels used for watering and work for by day. He came to us leading us in prayer, and he recited Surah al-Baqarah (in prayer). He (the Prophet) said: Mu’adh, are you a trouble maker? Recite such and such ; recite such and such (surahs) The narrator Abu al-Zubair said (recite) “Glorify the name of the most high lord” (surah lxxxvii) and “By the night when it covers over” (surah xcii). We mentioned this to ‘Amr. He said I think he mentioned it (the names of some surahs). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 790)

[Machine] Amr once said that he heard it from Jabir, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "War is deception."

ahmad:14309Sufyān > ʿAmr

[Machine] Jabir heard a man enter on Friday while the Prophet ﷺ was giving a sermon, so the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did you pray?" He replied, "No." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Pray two units (rak'ahs)."

ahmad:14310Sufyān > Liʿamrw Asamiʿt Jābir

[Machine] Did you hear Jaabir saying that a man passed by the mosque with arrows and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Hold on to their shafts?" And the man replied, "Yes."

ahmad:14311Sufyān

[Machine] Amr heard Jabir saying that the Prophet ﷺ sold a servant who was skilled in managing affairs, and then Ibn Nahham bought a Coptic servant, who died in the year of the first rule of Ibn Zubayr. A man from the Ansar managed him, and he did not have any wealth other than him.
