[Machine] I heard Jabir saying that a man from the Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam. He pledged allegiance to him for migration. However, he soon got sick and came to the Prophet ﷺ . He asked him to release him from the pledge, but the Prophet ﷺ refused. The man repeated this request two more times, but the Prophet ﷺ refused each time. Then the man left and said, "Madinah is like a furnace, it expels its impurities and retains its good!  

أحمد:١٤٣٠٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ فَأَسْلَمَ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ أَنْ حُمَّ فَجَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَقَالَ لَا أُقِيلُكَ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَقَالَ لَا أُقِيلُكَ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَقَالَ لَا فَفَرَّ فَقَالَ الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا وَتَنْصَعُ طَيِّبَهَا

[Machine] An Arab came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Give me your pledge of allegiance on Islam." So he gave him his pledge of allegiance on Islam. Then, on the next day, the Arab came while in a state of distress and said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me go." But he refused. Then, on the following day, the Arab came again while in a state of distress and said, "Let me go." But he refused. When he left, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The city (Medina) is like a furnace, it expels its impurities and keeps its good."  

أحمد:١٤٩٣٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا قَالَ

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ بَايِعْنِي عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ مِنَ الْغَدِ مَحْمُومًا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي فَأَبَى ثُمَّ جَاءَ مِنَ الْغَدِ مَحْمُومًا فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَأَبَى فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا وَيَنْصَعُ طَيِّبَهَا

[Machine] I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "An Arab came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him on Islam. He fell ill, so he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'Release me from my pledge.' But the Prophet ﷺ refused. He came to him again and said, 'Release me from my pledge.' But the Prophet ﷺ refused. They asked about him and they were told that he had left. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Medina is like a furnace that removes its impurities and purifies its good.'"
