[Machine] I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "An Arab came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him on Islam. He fell ill, so he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'Release me from my pledge.' But the Prophet ﷺ refused. He came to him again and said, 'Release me from my pledge.' But the Prophet ﷺ refused. They asked about him and they were told that he had left. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Medina is like a furnace that removes its impurities and purifies its good.'"  

أحمد:١٤٢٨٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَوُعِكَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَأَبَى ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي فَأَبَى فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا خَرَجَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا وَتَنْصَعُ طَيِّبَهَا

A bedouin gave the Pledge of allegiance to Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Islam and the bedouin got a fever where upon he said to the Prophet ﷺ "Cancel my Pledge." But the Prophet ﷺ refused. He came to him (again) saying, "Cancel my Pledge.' But the Prophet ﷺ refused. Then (the bedouin) left (Medina). Allah's Apostle said: "Medina is like a pair of bellows (furnace): It expels its impurities and brightens and clears its good."

A bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Please take my Pledge of allegiance for Islam." So the Prophet took from him the Pledge of allegiance for Islam. He came the next day with a fever and said to the Prophet ﷺ "Cancel my pledge." But the Prophet ﷺ refused and when the bedouin went away, the Prophet said, "Medina is like a pair of bellows (furnace): It expels its impurities and brightens and clears its good."

A bedouin gave the Pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam to Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and then he got an attack of fever in Medina and came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ: and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Cancel my pledge." Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused to do so. The bedouin came to him again and said, "Cancel my pledge," but he refused again, and then again, the bedouin came to him and said, "Cancel my pledge," and Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused. The bedouin finally went away, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Medina is like a pair of bellows (furnace), it expels its impurities while it brightens and clears its good.'

a Bedouin pledged Islam to the Messenger of Allah, then the Bedouin was stricken with the fever in Al-Madinah. So he came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "O Messenger of Allah, cancel my pledge," but he refused. Then he came to him again and said: "Cancel my pledge," but he refused. Then he came to him again and said: "Cancel my pledge," but he refused. Then the Bedouin left (Al-Madinah) and the Messenger of Allah sadi: "Al-Madinah his like the bellows; it expels its dross and brightness its good.  

النسائي:٤١٨٥أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

that a Bedouin gave the pledge to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Islam, then he was afflicted by the sickness in Al-Madinah. So the Bedouin went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "Take back my pledge." But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused. Then the Bedouin left and came back and said: "Take back my pledge," and he refused. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Al-Madinah is but like bellows, it expels its filth and purifies its good."  

الترمذي:٣٩٢٠حَدَّثَنَا الأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir from Jabir ibn Abdullah that a Bedouin took an oath of allegiance in Islam with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A fever befell the Bedouin at Madina. He came to the Messenger of Allah, and said, "Messenger of Allah, release me from my pledge." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused. Then he came to him again and said, "Release me from my pledge." The Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace, refused. Then he came again and said, "Release me from my pledge." He refused. Then he came again and said, "Release me from my pledge." He refused. The Bedouin left and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Madina is like the blacksmith's furnace. It removes the impurities and purifies the good."  

مالك:٤٥-٤وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

[Machine] An Arab came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Give me your pledge of allegiance on Islam." So he gave him his pledge of allegiance on Islam. Then, on the next day, the Arab came while in a state of distress and said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me go." But he refused. Then, on the following day, the Arab came again while in a state of distress and said, "Let me go." But he refused. When he left, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The city (Medina) is like a furnace, it expels its impurities and keeps its good."  

أحمد:١٤٩٣٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا قَالَ

[Machine] An Arab came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him on Islam. The next day he came, looking disheveled, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me some of your wealth." The Prophet refused. He came to him for three consecutive days, each time saying, "O Messenger of Allah, give me some of your wealth," and each time the Prophet ﷺ refused. When he left, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Medina is like a furnace that purifies its impure and retains its good."  

أحمد:١٥٢١٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَىالْإِسْلَامِ فَجَاءَ مِنَ الْغَدِ مَحْمُومًا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي فَأَبَى فَجَاءَهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مُتَوَالِيَةٍ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي فَيَأْبَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا وَيَنْصَعُ طَيِّبَهَا

[Machine] I heard Jabir saying that a man from the Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam. He pledged allegiance to him for migration. However, he soon got sick and came to the Prophet ﷺ . He asked him to release him from the pledge, but the Prophet ﷺ refused. The man repeated this request two more times, but the Prophet ﷺ refused each time. Then the man left and said, "Madinah is like a furnace, it expels its impurities and retains its good!
