[Machine] Jabir heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encourage the people on the day of the trench, and then he encouraged Zubair. Then he encouraged the people again, and Zubair volunteered. Then he encouraged the people again, and Zubair volunteered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every prophet has a disciple, and my disciple is Zubair." Sufyan said, "I heard Ibn al-Munkadir in this mosque."  

أحمد:١٤٢٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ

سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ نَدَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَانْتَدَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ ثُمَّ نَدَبَ النَّاسَ فَانْتَدَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ ثُمَّ نَدَبَ النَّاسَ فَانْتَدَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيًّاوَحَوَارِيَّ الزُّبَيْرُ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ

On the day of the battle of the Trench, the Prophet ﷺ wanted somebody from amongst the people to volunteer to be a reconnoitre. Az-Zubair volunteered. He demanded the same again and Az-Zubair volunteered again. Then he repeated the same demand (thrice) and AzZubair volunteered once more. The Prophet ﷺ then said, " Every prophet has a disciple and my disciple is Az-Zubair."  

البخاري:٢٩٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ

When the Prophet ﷺ called the people (Sadqa, a sub-narrator, said, 'Most likely that happened on the day of Al-Khandaq) Az-Zubair responded to the call (i.e. to act as a scout). The Prophet) called the people again and Az-Zubair responded to the call. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Every prophet had a disciple and my disciple is Zubair bin Al-ʿAwwam."  

البخاري:٢٨٤٧ – حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ؓ قَالَ

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ exhorting people on the Day of the Battle of the Ditch to fight. Zubair said: I am ready (to participate). He then again exhorted and he again said: I am ready to participate. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Behold. for every Prophet there is a helper and my helper is Zubair.  

مسلم:٢٤١٥a – حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

[Machine] I heard Jaabir ibn Abdullah say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called upon the people on the day of the trench, then he called upon Zubair and then he called upon him again, and then he called upon Zubair. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Every prophet has disciples, and my disciple is Zubair." Sufyan said that Hisham ibn Urwah added, "And the disciples of Zubair are Ibn Ammatai."  

البيهقي:١٨٤٤١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدُوسٍ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ
