[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ late at night and prayed behind him. He took my hand and awakened me. He made me wear his shoes. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, I made a mistake. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then asked me why I remained silent while he prayed. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should anyone pray behind you, the Messenger of Allah, who has been given by Allah?' He was amazed and prayed to Allah to increase my knowledge and understanding.

Then, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fall asleep until I heard him breathe. Bilal came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is time for prayer.' He stood up and prayed without performing ablution again."

[Machine] So they started and spoke, and we do not know what they said. He said, then he got up and dusted off his clothes and said, "Woe to them! May they be destroyed!" They fell into a man who had ten (dirhams) and they fell into a man who said to him (the Prophet ﷺ), "I will send a man whom Allah will never humiliate; he loves Allah and His Messenger." He said, "Who can do this?" They said, "Ali is there." He said, "Where is Ali?" They said, "He is in the grinding mill." He said, "Why would any of you grind?" He said, so he came while he was blind, unable to see. He said, so he spat in his eyes, then he shook the banner three times and gave it to him. So he came with Safiyyah bint Huyy and he sent so-and-so with Surah At-Tawbah, then he sent Ali after him and he took it from him. He said, "No one should take it except a man from me and I am from him." He said, and he said to his cousins, "Which of you will support me in this world and the Hereafter?" He said, and Ali was sitting with him. So they refused. Ali said, "I will support you in this world and the Hereafter." He said, "You are my supporter in this world and the Hereafter." He said, so he left him and then he approached another man from among them and said, "Which of you will support me in this world and the Hereafter?" They refused. He said, so Ali said to him, "I will support you in this world and the Hereafter." He said, "You are my supporter in this world and the Hereafter." He said, and he was the first of the people to embrace Islam after Khadijah. He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took off his garment and put it on Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and said, "Indeed, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you completely." He said, and Ali sold himself and wore the garment of the Prophet ﷺ, then slept in his place. He said, and the polytheists used to throw stones at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Bakr and Ali came, and Ali was sleeping. He said, and Abu Bakr thought that he was the Prophet of Allah. He said, so he said to him, "O Messenger of Allah!" He said, so Ali said to him, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has gone toward Bir Ma'un, so go after him and catch up with him." He said, so Abu Bakr went and entered the cave with him. He said, and Ali was being pelted with stones just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to be, while he was relieving himself. He had wrapped his head in his garment, not uncovering it until daybreak. Then he uncovered his head and they said to him, "Indeed, you are a wretched one. Your companion we would throw stones at him while he wasn't relieving himself, and here we are throwing stones at you while you are relieving yourself. We have been displeased with that." He said, and he went out with the people in the Battle of Tabuk. He said, and Ali said to him, "Shall I go out with you?" He said, so Ali wept and said to him, "Would you not be pleased to be like Harun to my Musa, except that you are not a prophet? It would not be appropriate for me to go out without you as my caliph." He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "You are my guardian of every believer after me." And he said, and he blocked the doors of the mosque except for Ali's door. He said, so he would enter the mosque in a state of impurity, and that was his way, as there was no other way for him. He said, and he said, "Whoever I am his guardian, then Ali is his guardian." He said, and Allah Almighty informed us in the Qur'an that He was pleased with them, the people of the tree and He knew what was in their hearts. Did He inform us that He was displeased with them afterwards? He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Umar, when he said, "Give me permission and I will strike his neck," He said, so Ali said to him, "Were you doing that?" And how do you know that Allah has not looked at the people of Badr and said, "Do as you please"?

I participated in the Fitr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthman, and all of them observed this prayer before the Khutba, and then he (the Holy Prophet) delivered the sermon. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended (from the pulpit) and I (perceive) as if I am seeing him as he is commanding people with his hand to sit down. He then made his way through their (assembly) till he came to the women. Bilal was with him. He then recited (this verse): O Prophet, when believing women come to thee giving thee a pledge that they will not associate aught with Allah" (lx. 12) till he finished (his address to) them and then said: Do you conform to it (what has been described in the verse)? Only one woman among them replied: Yes, Apostle of Allah, but none else replied. He (the narrator) said: It could not be ascertained who actually she was. He (the Holy Prophet) exhorted them to give alms. Bilal stretched his cloth and then said: Come forward with alms. Let my father and mother be taken as ransom for you. And they began to throw rings and ringlets in the cloth of Bilal. (Using translation from Muslim 884a)

[Machine] Which verse is it? I said, "If you disclose what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will evaluate you for it." [Al-Baqarah 284]. Ibn Abbas said: When this verse was revealed, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became greatly distressed and angered. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, have we been destroyed if we are held accountable for what we say and do? As for our hearts, they are not in our control." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told them, "Say, 'We hear and obey.'" They said, "We hear and obey." He said, "It has been abrogated by this verse, 'The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers.'" [Al-Baqarah 285], to 'Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear...' [Al-Baqarah 286]. Therefore, they were relieved from the responsibility of what is within themselves, but they were still held accountable for their actions.

He prayed the noon prayer with me when the sun had passed the meridian to the extent of the thong of a sandal; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when the shadow of everything was as long as itself; he prayed the sunset prayer with me when one who is fasting breaks the fast; he prayed the night prayer with me when the twilight had ended; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me when food and drink become forbidden to one who is keeping the fast. On the following day he prayed the noon prayer with me when his shadow was as long as himself; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when his shadow was twice as long as himself; he prayed the sunset prayer at the time when one who is fasting breaks the fast; he prayed the night prayer with me when about the third of the night had passed; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me when there was a fair amount of light.
