[Machine] Most of the talk was around the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and then we woke up on him and he said, "The prophets were presented to me with their nations." So, the Prophet ﷺ passed by with a group and the prophet ﷺ had a group with him, and the prophet ﷺ had a group with him, and the prophet ﷺ had a group with him, and there was no one with him until Moses passed by with him from the Bani Israel. So, I asked, "Who are these?" It was said: "This is your brother Moses and with him is the Children of Israel." So, I asked, "Where are my nation?" It was said: "Look to your right." So, I looked and saw the horizons filled with the faces of men. Then it was said to me, "Look to your left." So, I looked and saw the horizons filled with the faces of men. It was said to me, "Are you satisfied?" I said, "I am satisfied, O Lord, I am satisfied, O Lord!" It was said to me, "Indeed, with these (people) there are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being held accountable." The Prophet ﷺ said, "They are a ransom for you and your parents, if you are able to be one of the seventy thousand, then do so. If you fall short, then be one of the Dustar (people of the horizon). And if you fall short (of that), then be one of the Afar (people of the wilderness). Indeed, I have seen people who are outnumbered." So, 'Ukkashah bin Mihsan Al-Asadi stood up and said, "Ask Allah to make me one of the seventy (thousand)." So, he supplicated for him. Another man stood up and said, "Ask Allah to make me one of them." He said, "Ukkashah has beaten you to it." He (the man) said: "Tell us who are the seventy thousand?" He (the Prophet) said: "They are those who do not seek Ruqyah (charms or spells), and do not believe in treating through a good or bad omen, nor do they get themselves branded (cauterized), and they put their trust (only) in their Lord."

I was with Sa'id b. Jubair when he said: Who amongst you saw a star shooting last night? I said: It was I; then I said: I was in fact not (busy) in prayer, but was stung by a scorpion (and that is the reason why I was awake and had a glimpse of the shooting star). He said: Then what did you do? I said: I practised charm. He said: What urged you to do this? I said: (I did this according to the implied suggestion) of the hadith which al-Shu'ba narrated. He said: What did al-Shu'ba narrate to you? I said: Buraida b. Husaib al-Aslami narrated to us. The charm is of no avail except in case of the (evil influence) of an eye or the sting of a scorpion. He said: He who acted according to what he had heard (from the Holy Prophet) acted rightly, but Ibn 'Abbas narrated to us from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: There were brought before me the peoples and I saw an apostle and a small group (of his followers) along with him, another (apostle) and one or two persons (along with him) and (still another) apostle having no one with him. When a very large group was brought to me I conceived as if it were my Ummah. Then it was said to me: It is Moses and his people. You should look at the horizon, and I saw a very huge group. It was again said to me: See the other side of the horizon, and there was (also) a very huge group. It was said to me: This is your Ummah, and amongst them there were seventy thousand persons who would be made to enter Paradise without rendering any account and without (suffering) any torment. He then stood up and went to his house. Then the people began to talk about the people who would be admitted to Paradise without rendering any account and without (suffering) any torment. Some of them said: They may be those who (have had the good fortune of living) in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of them said: They be those who were born in Islam and did not associate anything with Allah. Some people mentioned other things. Thereupon came forth the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before them and he said: What was that which you were talking about? They informed him. He said: They are those persons who neither practise charm, nor ask others to practise it, nor do they take omens, and repose their trust in their Lord. Upon this 'Ukkasha b. Mihsan stood up and said: Supplicate for me that He should make me one among them. Upon this he (Messenger of Allah) said: Thou are one among them. Then another man stood up and said: Supplicate before Allah that He should make me one among them. Upon this he said: 'Ukkisha has preceded you.

[Machine] Which of you saw the passing comet last night? I said, "Me," then I said, "But I wasn't in prayer, I was bitten by a scorpion." He said, "And how did it happen?" I said, "I was stung." He asked, "What made you do that?" So I said, "A hadith that Al-Sha'bi narrated from Buraydah Al-Aslami, who said, 'There is no ruqyah (incantation) except from an evil eye or a scorpion sting.'" Sa'id, meaning Ibn Jubayr, said, "The one who reaches what he heard has done well." Then he said, "Ibn 'Abbas narrated to us from the Prophet ﷺ who said, 'The nations were shown to me, and I saw a prophet with a small group and a prophet with one or two individuals, and a prophet with no one with him. Then a great multitude was raised for me, so I said, 'This is my nation.' It was said, 'This is Musa and his nation. But look to the horizon.' So I looked and saw a great multitude. Then it was said to me, 'Look to the other side.' So I looked and saw a great multitude. It was said, 'This is your nation, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment.' Then the Prophet ﷺ rose and entered, and the people began to discuss the matter. They said, 'Who are these people who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment?' Some of them said, 'Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Prophet ﷺ .' Others said, 'Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated anything with Allah, and they mentioned some other things.' Then the Prophet ﷺ came out to them and said, 'What is it that you were discussing?' So they told him what they had said, and he said, 'They are those who do not ask for ruqyah or amulets, and they do not cauterize themselves or seek omens, rather they put their trust in their Lord.' Mu'adh bin Jabal Al-Ansari stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I one of them?' He said, 'Yes.' Then another man stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I one of them?' He said, 'Ukkashah got ahead of you.'"

[Machine] Most of us were talking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and then we went to him the next morning. He said, "The prophets were presented to me last night with their nations. The Prophet ﷺ walked by with a group of people, then the Prophet ﷺ walked by with a smaller group, and then the Prophet ﷺ walked by alone, and there was no one with him until Musa walked by with a group from the children of Israel. They amazed me so I asked, 'Who are these?'" I was told, "These are your nation, O Messenger of Allah, and these are the children of Israel." I said, "Where is my nation?" I was told, "Look to your right." So I looked and the horizon was filled with the faces of men. Then I was told, "Look to your left." So I looked and the horizon was filled with the faces of men. Then I was asked, "Are you pleased?" I said, "I am pleased, O Lord, I am pleased, O Lord." It was said to me, "Among these are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being brought to account." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I wish that you, O Abu Umaamah and your mother, may be among them. If you can, be one of the seventy thousand. If you cannot, then be one of the people of the horizon. And if you cannot, then be one of the people of the outskirts." I have seen people who argue with one another, then 'Ukkashah bin Mihsan stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to make me one of the seventy thousand." So he prayed for him. Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to make me one of them." He said, "Ukkashah has beaten you to it." Then we asked, "Who are these seventy thousand people?" [Machine] We spoke with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night and we had a lengthy conversation. Then we returned to our homes, and when we woke up in the morning, we went to the Prophet ﷺ . He said, "The prophets were presented to me last night, along with their followers from their nations. The Prophet came with three men from his people, and the Prophet came with a group and the Prophet came with a smaller group, and the Prophet came alone without anyone from his people. Until Musa ibn Imran came to me in a crowd of the children of Israel, and when I saw them, I was impressed, so I said, 'Lord, who are these?' He said, 'This is your brother Musa ibn Imran and his followers from the children of Israel.' I said, 'Lord, where is my nation?' It was said to me, 'Look to your right.' So I looked, and there was a black cloud approaching Makkah, with the faces of men turning black.' I said, 'Lord, who are these?' He said, 'These are your nation.' Then it was said to me, 'Are you pleased?' I said, 'Lord, I am pleased.' Then it was said to me, 'With them, there are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without any accountability.' Then 'Ukkashah ibn Mihsan, the brother of Banu Asad, stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to your Lord to make me one of them.' He said, 'O Allah, make him one of them.' Then another man stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to your Lord to make me one of them.' He said, 'Ukkashah has already been granted that.' Then the Prophet ﷺ said, 'For you, my father and mother, if you can, strive to be among the seventy thousand. If you cannot, then strive to be among the people of the black cloud. If you cannot, then strive to be among the people on the horizon. Verily, I saw a people who were very much deluded.' Then the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse, 'A group [of the believers] from the earlier generations and a group from the later ones.' (Quran 56:40) The Muslims then started to speculate who these seventy thousand would be, and they said, 'We see them as people who were born into Islam and never cease to practice it until they die.' The narration of this hadith goes back to the Prophet ﷺ , who said, 'That is not the case, rather they are those who do not seek ruqya (charms or amulets), do not cauterize themselves, and do not believe in omens, but rather they put their trust in their Lord.'"

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The nations were presented to me, and I saw a Prophet accompanied by a group, a Prophet accompanied by one man, and a Prophet with no one accompanying him. Then a huge group was raised before me, so I asked if they were my nation. It was said, 'This is Musa (Moses) and his people, but look at the horizon.' So I looked and saw another huge group. Then it was said to me, 'Look at the other side.' And there was another huge group. It was said to me, 'Your nation, along with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being held accountable or experiencing punishment.' Then the Prophet ﷺ got up and entered. The people began to discuss and ask, 'Who are those who will enter Paradise without being held accountable?' Some said, 'Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Prophet ﷺ .' Others said, 'Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated partners with Allah and mentioned certain virtues.' The Prophet ﷺ came out to them and asked, 'What are you discussing?' They informed him of what they were saying. He said, 'They are those who do not seek cauterization, do not ask for omens, and do not believe in evil omens. They rely solely on their Lord.' Then 'Ukkashah bin Mihsan Al-Asadi stood up and asked, 'Am I among them, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Yes, you are among them.' Then another man stood up and asked, 'Am I among them, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'Ukkashah beat you to it.'"
