[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who initiates a conflict is guilty unless the oppressed retaliates."
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who initiates a conflict is guilty unless the oppressed retaliates."
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "When two people revile each other, the responsibility for what they say rests on the first to speak as long as the one who wronged does not become excessive."
As 423, but from Anas.
When two persons indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits.
when two men abuse one another, what they say is laid to the charge of the one who began it, so long as the one who is wronged does not go over the score.
"(The burden of) what is said by the two who vilify each other is upon the one who initiated it, as long as the one who was wronged does not transgress."
when two men abuse one another, what they say is laid to the charge of the one who began it, so long as the one who is wronged does not go over the score. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4894)

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "The one who engages in conflict is not to be blamed until the oppressed person initiates aggression."

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, the sin of those who provoke or initiate conflict is not forgiven until the oppressed person exceeds their limits, or unless the oppressed person commits an act of aggression. In such cases, suspicion is magnified.
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The sin of the one who initiates lies in what they say and the one who responds is only held accountable as long as they do not transgress." He ﷺ said, "Pardon or until the oppressed crosses the bounds."

[AI] Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who initiates the argument bears the burden of proof as long as the oppressed person does not transgress."
