“My family started to put pressure on me after I came to know the Sunnah. People used to sacrifice one or two sheep, but now our neighbors call us stingy.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3148)
[Machine] "We used to sacrifice one sacrifice, but they claimed that their greed is preventing us from doing so, so they led us to abandon the tradition after we knew it."
[Machine] "I saw Abu Bakr and Umar, and they do not sacrifice out of fear of being praised. So, my family made me bear the burden of harshness after I learned from the Sunnah, to the extent that I sacrifice for every one of them."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to bring two rams, both black and horned. He would slaughter one of them and say, "O Allah, this is on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad." Then he would bring the other ram and say, "O Allah, this is on behalf of my Ummah, to whoever testifies to Your Oneness and testifies to my prophethood."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are ten signs before the Day of Judgment: a sun rising from the west, the sinking of the east, the sinking of the west, the sinking of Hijaz, the appearance of Ya'juj and Ma'juj, a strong wind that will drive people and throw them into the sea, the emergence of the Smoke, the emergence of the Dajjal, the emergence of the Beast, and the descent of Jesus son of Mary."

[Machine] A man asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about the Hour (i.e., the Day of Judgment). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, replied, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "I have not prepared much except that I love Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "You will be with those whom you love."
[Machine] About Urwah in describing someone who witnessed the Battle of Badr, Hatib bin Abi Balta'ah.
[Machine] About Ibn Shihab, on naming those who witnessed the Battle of Badr from the Bani Asad ibn Abdul Uzza, Hattib ibn Abi Balta'ah, an ally of theirs.
Hatib will definitely go to Hell. (But) Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You tell a lie; he would not get into that for he had taken part in Badr and in (the expedition of) Hudaibiya. (Using translation from Muslim 2495)

[Machine] Hatif ibn Abi Belta'a passed away in the year thirty. He was nicknamed Abu Muhammad and he was sixty-five years old. Ibn Affan prayed for him in Medina.

[Machine] His father wrote a letter to the disbelievers of Quraysh while he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He had witnessed the Battle of Badr, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Ali and Zubayr and said, "Go until you catch up with a woman who has a book with her, and bring it to me." So they went until they met her and said, "Give us the book that you have, and inform her that we will not leave until we remove every garment from her." She said, "Are you two Muslims?" They said, "Yes, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us that you have a book." When she was convinced that they were not deceiving her, she untied the book from her head and handed it to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called a scribe, and he read the book to him. Then he asked, "Do you recognize this book?" He said, "Yes." He asked, "What compelled you to do that?" He said, "I have a son and I have relatives, and I was a stranger among the Quraysh." Umar asked for permission to kill the scribe, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused, saying, "No, because he witnessed the Battle of Badr. And you do not know, perhaps Allah has looked favorably upon the people of Badr." Then he said, "Do as you please, for I have forgiven you."

[Machine] "We used to sit in the courtyard of the Kaaba during the time of ignorance (pre-Islamic period). Then, a woman came to the Kaaba seeking refuge from her husband. He stretched out his hand towards her and his hand became paralyzed. I have seen him after his conversion to Islam, and indeed he had a limp."
[Machine] I heard Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numair saying, "Hakeem ibn Hizam, the father of Khalid."
[Machine] Hakim bin Hizam, also known as Abu Khalid, passed away in the year forty-five. Some say he passed away in the year fifty-eight. He lived for one hundred and twenty years. Sixty years in the pre-Islamic era, and sixty years in the Islamic era.
[Machine] To be a martyr on the day I don't do this or that, and he doesn't do it, and he is called Abu Khaled.
[Machine] With a hundred thousand, it was said to him, "Would you sell your house for a hundred thousand?" He said, "By Allah, if I had taken it in the time of ignorance except for a droplet of wine, and bear witness that its price is in the way of Allah."
[Machine] "He sold his house to Muawiya for sixty thousand, and they said: 'You have been deceived by Muawiya, by Allah!' He said: 'I did not take it in the times of ignorance except by spitting a mouthful of wine. I bear witness that it is for the sake of Allah, the poor, and the slaves. And who among us is the loser?'"
[Machine] They said, "Do not hasten until I bring something for you." It is said that Hakim ibn Hizam used to wear clothes that were brought from Egypt, as if they were a shroud worth four dirhams, and he would carry a staff in his hand and bring along his servant. And whenever he passed by a rag or trash, he would see in it a piece of cloth that could be used for the equipment of the camel that he carries in the path of Allah. He would take it with the end of his staff and shake it off, then he would say to his two servants, "Hold on to it, you can make use of it for your equipment." So the two Bedouins said to each other while he was doing this, "Woe to us! By Allah, this is nothing but straw picking!" And his companion said to him, "Woe to you! Do not rush, let us see." So he went out with them until he brought them to the market and looked at two noble, fat, and well-purchased camels, and he purchased them and their equipment. Then he said to his two servants, "Throw these rags to them, it is suitable for their equipment." Then he fed them and provided them with water and fodder, and gave them an allowance. Then he gave them the two camels. One of them said to his companion, "By Allah, I have never seen a better straw picker than him today."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ gave Hakim ibn Hizam an offering on the day of Hunayn, then he increased it. Hakim asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, which of your offerings is better?" He replied, "The first one." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "O Hakim ibn Hizam, this is a green and sweet plant. Whoever takes it with a generous soul and good eating will be blessed, and whoever takes it with greed and bad eating will not be blessed, and it will be like one who eats but is not satisfied. The upper hand is better than the lower hand." Hakim asked, "And from you, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "And from me." Hakim said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will never beg from anyone after you." Hakim did not accept any salary or gift until he died. Omar ibn al-Khattab said, "O Allah, I bear witness to You that I call upon Hakim ibn Hizam to take his share of this wealth, but he refuses." Hakim said, "I swear by Allah, I will never give it to you or anyone else." He died in the state he was in, and indeed he was one of the wealthiest Quraysh.

"I asked the Messenger of Allah and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me. Then he said: "This wealth is attractive and sweet. Whoever takes it without insisting, it will be blessed for him, and whoever takes it with avarice, it will not be blessed for him. He is like one who eats and is not satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower hand."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2531)

"I (once) asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (for something) and he gave it to me. Then I asked him (again) and he gave it to me. Then I asked him (again) and he gave it to me. Then I asked him (again), so he gave it to me. Then he said: 'O Hakim! Indeed this wealth is green and sweet, so whoever takes it without asking for it, he will be blessed in it. And whoever takes it, insisting upon it, he will not be blessed in it. He is like the one who eats but does not get satisfied and contended. And the upper hand (giving) is better than the lower hand (receiving)." So Hakim said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! By the One who sent you with the Truth! I shall not ask anyone for anything after you until I depart the world.'"So Abu Bakr used to call Hakim to give him something, but he refused to accept it. Then 'Umar called him to give to him, but he refused to accept it. So 'Umar said: "O you Muslims! I would like you to bear witness that I presented Hakim with his due of these spoils of war but he refused to accept it." So Hakim never asked anyone of the people for anything after the Messenger of Allah, until he died. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2463)

Messenger of Allah, do you think if there is any reward (of the Lord with me on the Day of Resurrection) for the deeds of religious purification that I performed in the state of ignorance, such as charity, freeing a slave, cementing of blood-relations?
