[Machine] I arrived in Kufa, and I had a companion with me to fetch sandals from there. So, we went to the market, and it hadn't opened yet. So, I said to my companion, "If we entered the mosque, and the mosque was then filled with the people of Tamar, so we entered. Then, a man from the tribe of Qays, called Ibn al-Muntafiq, came and I heard him say that he was described by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was given a high rank. So, I asked about him in Makkah, and I was told he is in Mina. So, I asked about him in Mina and I was told he is in Arafat. So, I reached him while he was in a group of his companions, and they told me to step aside from the path of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Leave the man. What is wrong with him?' So, I approached him until I took hold of his camel's reins or bridle. So, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I ask you about what will save me from the Hellfire and what will bring me to Paradise.' So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his head towards the sky, then he lowered it, and then he faced me and said, 'If you can focus on this, then you have asked about something great and long. Guard the worship of Allah alone and do not associate anything with Him. Establish the obligatory prayers, pay the prescribed Zakah, fast in Ramadan, and do what you wish for others to do unto you. And refrain from doing what you dislike for others to do to you. Leave people alone in their affairs and let go of any concern for what people say or do to your belongings. Hamzah said, 'As for Hajj, he performed it wherever he was asked."

Indeed, I am responsible to convey. Have I conveyed?' He repeated this three times. Then he said, 'Listen and live, listen and live, sit down.' The people sat down, and my friend and I stood until he finished. When he was at ease, I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what knowledge of the unseen do you possess?' He laughed and shook his head, knowing that I sought some confidential information from him. He said, 'By the oath of Allah, your Lord, has kept five things of the unseen that only He knows.' He pointed with his hand and I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what are they?' He replied, 'The knowledge of when a person will die, which none of you know; and the knowledge of when the sperm will fertilize the ovum, which none of you know; and the knowledge of what will happen tomorrow, which none of you know, whether you will be eating tomorrow or not; and the knowledge of the unseen matters that will happen on the Day of Judgment, where the righteous will be honored and the wicked will be humiliated, and your Lord will continue to laugh, knowing that your return is close.' Laqeet left and I followed with my friend until we reached the city of Madinah during the month of Rajab. We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he finished the Fajr prayer and stood among the people as a speaker. He said, 'O people, know that I have hidden my voice from you for four days so that I can be heard today. Is there anyone sent by his people?' They said, 'Inform us what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says.' He said, 'Perhaps he is preoccupied with his own thoughts or the thoughts of his friend, or perhaps he is led astray by the misguidance. Behold, I am responsible, have I conveyed the message?' So listen and live, listen and live, sit down.' The people sat down and I and my friend remained standing until he finished addressing the people, with a serene heart and clear sight. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what knowledge of the unseen do you possess?' He laughed, swore by Allah, shook his head, and knew that I sought his approval. He said, 'Your Lord has knowledge of five things from the unseen that no one else knows except Him.' He pointed with his hand and said, 'What they are, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Knowledge of the appointed time of death of every individual, which you do not know, knowledge of when the sperm is in the womb, which you do not know, knowledge of what will happen tomorrow, which you are not aware of what you will eat tomorrow, and knowledge of the unseen of the future, which causes you to be afraid and worried, but your Lord still laughs and He has known that your return is indeed near.' Laqeet said, 'I said, we will never be deprived of a Lord who laughs, it is good indeed, and knowledge of the Hour.'"

[Machine] Al-Laqit ibn 'Amir went out and encountered the Messenger of Allah ﷺ along with his companion, whose name was Nihik ibn 'Asim ibn Malik ibn Muntafiq. Laqit said, "I went out with my companion until we reached al-Madinah during the month of Rajab, after the Messenger of Allah had finished the Fajr prayer. He stood up amongst the people as a preacher and said, 'O people, be aware that I have been hiding my voice from you for the past four days, so that I may convey to you today. Is there anyone who will convey his people's message to them?' The people said, 'We know not what the Messenger of Allah will say.' Then he continued, 'It may be that he is preoccupied with his own affairs or the affairs of his companion, or the misguidance may distract him. Verily, I am accountable. Did I convey?' Listen attentively so that you may live on. Yes, listen attentively so that you may live on. Sit down.' The people sat down, and my companion and I stood until he was done with us. When he was relaxed and his vision clear, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what knowledge do you have of the unseen?' He laughed and shook his head. He knew that I desired his discourse on this matter, so he said, 'Your Lord has knowledge of five unseen things, which no one knows except Him.' Then he gestured with his hand, and I said, 'What are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Knowledge of when one of you will have a wet dream, which you do not know. Knowledge of when the semen combines in the womb, which you do not know. Knowledge of what will happen tomorrow, which you do not know, whether you will eat breakfast or not. Knowledge of when the Hour will occur, which is unknown to you. And knowledge of what is in the unseen, which will cause you to be humble and fearful, while your Lord still laughs, knowing that your return is near.' Laqit said, 'I said, we shall never be deprived of a Lord who laughs is for our own good. And knowledge of the Hour.'"

Laeqit said: "I went out and my companion and I traveled until we reached Madinah on the 27th of Rajab. He said, 'O people, know that I have been hiding my voice from you for the past four days so that I can speak to you today. Is there anyone whose people have sent him?' So the people sat down, and my companion and I stood until he had finished speaking. Then, when his heart and sight were settled, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what knowledge do you have of the unseen?' He laughed and shook his head and knew that I was seeking a favor from him. He said, 'Your Lord is inclined to five things of the unseen that no one knows except Him.' And he pointed with his hand. So I asked, 'What are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'The knowledge of the exact time of one's death, which you do not know, and the knowledge of the time when a drop of semen is inside the womb, which is known but you do not know, and the knowledge of what will happen tomorrow, which is known, but you do not know if you will be alive or not, and the knowledge of the unseen of that Day [of Judgment], which is mighty and concerning which you will feel awe.
