[Machine] "Indeed, charity falls into the hand of Allah before it falls into the hand of the beggar. Then Abdullah recited the verse, 'And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants.'"

[Machine] A man came to Abdullah with his nephew who was drunk, and he said, "I found him drunk." Abdullah said, "Cover him and pamper him and reprimand him." The man covered him, pampered him, and reprimanded him, and the smell of alcohol was detected from him. Abdullah ordered him to be taken to prison, then he released him the next day. Then he ordered a whip, and it was struck until the skin broke and it became bleeding. Then he said to the executioner, "Whip him again and return your hand, and give each body part its right." So he beat him in a non-excessive manner and put him in a robe and trousers or a shirt and trousers. Then he said, "By the oath of Allah and the womb of Taim, I have not taught him manners but he has taught me manners, and I have not concealed his disgrace." The man said, "O Abu Abdullah, indeed he is my nephew, and I feel for him as I feel for my own son." Abdullah said, "Indeed, Allah loves forgiveness, and it is not appropriate for a guardian to impose a punishment unless he establishes it."

[Machine] A man came to Abdullah with his drunken nephew and said, "I found him drunk." Abdullah said, "Mock him, jeer at him, and rebuke him." So they mocked, jeered, and rebuked him. The smell of alcohol was detected from him. Abdullah ordered him to be imprisoned and then released him the next day. Then he ordered for a whip, and it was applied until it left marks on his body. Then he said to the executioner, "Whip him and withdraw your hand, and give each body part its rightful share." So he struck him with moderate blows and put him in a jacket and pants. Abdullah said, "By Allah and the Wali of Taym, I have not disciplined anyone better than I have disciplined him, nor concealed disgrace." The man said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, he is my cousin's son, and I have never had the same trouble with my own children." Abdullah said, "Verily, Allah loves forgiveness, and it is not appropriate for a guardian to impose a punishment unless he establishes it."

tabarani:8573Muḥammad b. ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah from my father > Jarīr > al-Aʿmash > Ḥassān Abū al-Ashras > Abū ʿUbaydah > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] Abdullah said, "If any of you is afflicted with a punishment, do not curse him, rather ask Allah to forgive him and have mercy on him."

tabarani:8574Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm al-Dabarī > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Abū Isḥāq > Abū ʿUbaydah > Ibn Masʿūd

[Machine] If you see your brother committing a sin, do not be his ally against Satan, saying, "O Allah, humiliate him! O Allah, curse him!" Instead, ask Allah for forgiveness and well-being, for we, the companions of Muhammad ﷺ , used to not speak ill of anyone until we knew about their fate. If it was sealed with good, we knew that they had achieved good, and if it was sealed with evil, we feared their actions.

tabarani:8575ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Abū Nuʿaym > Sufyān > Yaḥyá b. ʿAmr b. Salamah from his father > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] "For me, to be given a whip in the way of Allah is dearer than performing Hajj repeatedly."

tabarani:8576[Chain 1] Yūsuf al-Qāḍī > ʿAmr b. Marzūq [Chain 2] Muḥammad b. ʿAbdūs b. Kāmil > ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd > Shuʿbah > Abū Farwah al-Hamdānī > Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī

[Machine] Abdullah had the permission to engage in monetary transactions, and there was a man who married a woman, but she died before he could consummate the marriage, so he married her mother. He came to the city and it seemed as if he met with Umar, but he returned and then went to the money changers and forbade them from doing that.

tabarani:8577Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥaḍramī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar b. Abān > Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh > Abū Isḥāq > Saʿd b. Iyās al-Bajalī

[Machine] Abdullah used to exchange one dirham for two dirhams and one dinar for two dinars. But when he returned to Medina, he approached Umar, Ali, and the companions of the Prophet ﷺ who prohibited him from doing so. So when he returned, I saw him going around in the market and saying, "Woe to you, O people! Do not consume riba (usury) and do not buy dirhams for two dirhams or dinars for two dinars."

tabarani:8578ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Abū Nuʿaym > ʿAbd al-Salām b. Ḥarb > Mughīrah > Ibrāhīm

[Machine] "عَنْ قَوْلِهِ" translates to "According to his saying" or "From his statement" in English.

tabarani:8579Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm al-Dabarī > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > al-Thawrī > Abū Farwah > Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī > Ibn Masʿūd > a man from Banī Shamkh b. [Machine] So he informed him that it is not permissible for him. So when he returned to Kufa, he said to the man, "Indeed, it is forbidden for you, so separate from it."

[Machine] Abdullah said, "If you meet a wicked person, then strike him on his grimy face."

tabarani:8582Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥaḍramī > Aḥmad b. Yūnus > Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh > ʿĀṣim > Zir > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] Indeed, Allah looked into the hearts of the servants and found the heart of Muhammad ﷺ to be the best of hearts. He chose him for Himself and honored him, or He said, He sent him with His message. Then He looked into the hearts of the servants after his heart and found the hearts of his companions to be the best of hearts. So He appointed them as the ministers of His Prophet ﷺ, who fight for His religion.

[Machine] "Indeed, Allah looked into the hearts of His servants and chose Muhammad ﷺ , sending him with His message and selecting him with his knowledge. Then, He looked into the hearts of people and chose his companions, making them ministers of his Prophet ﷺ and supporters of his religion. So, whatever the believers see as good is considered good in the sight of Allah, and whatever the believers see as ugly is considered ugly in the sight of Allah."

tabarani:8584ʿUmar b. Ḥafṣ al-Sadūsī > ʿĀṣim b. ʿAlī > al-Masʿūdī > al-Aʿmash > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh a man

[Machine] Abdullah heard a man saying, "Where are the ascetics in this worldly life and those who aspire for the Hereafter?" So Abdullah said, "Those are the companions of Al-Jabiyyah and they stipulated that five hundred Muslims should not return until they are killed." He who likes to meet Allah tomorrow as Muslim, he should persevere in observing these prayers, when a call is announced for them, for Allah has laid down for your Prophet the paths of right guidance, and these (prayers) are among the paths of right guidance. If you were to pray in your houses as this man why stays away (from the mosque) prays in his house, you would abandon the practice of your Prophet, and if you were to abandon the practice of your Prophet, you would go astray. No man purifies himself, doing it well, then makes for one of those mosques without Allah recording a blessing for him for every step he takes raising him a degree for it, and effacing a sin from him for it. I have seen the time when no one stayed away from it, except a hypocrite, who was well known for his hypocrisy, whereas a man would be brought swaying (due to weakness) between two men till he was set up in a row. [Machine] If a Muslim slave meets Allah, let him pray where he is called to. Indeed, those prayers are the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ. Even if every man prayed in his own home, you would have deserted the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ. And if you deserted the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ, you would go astray. We and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray in front of us until the rows were straightened, or when our rows were straightened, and when the prayer is established today, then one of them is called: "O slave girl, come here for ablution." He regrets it and throws it away from his arms. We and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to talk between us, saying that when a man performs ablution in his house and then goes out to pray, he does not lift his foot except that a rank is lifted for him, and he does not step down except that Allah forgives him for a sin. And we used to come close to the errors."
