that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: *"Whoever says when he reaches morning or evening:

allāhumma innī aṣbaḥtu ush-hiduka, wa-ush-hidu ḥamalata ʿarshik, wa-malāʾikatak, wa-jamīʿa khalqik, annaka anta allāhu lā ilāha illā anta, wa-anna muḥammadan ʿabduka wa-rasūluk

(O Allah, I have entered the morning calling You to witness, and calling the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels, and all Your creation to witness, that You are Allah, there is no god but You, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Your Messenger)

Allah will free a quarter of him from the Fire. Whoever says it twice, Allah will free half of him. Whoever says it three times, Allah will free three-quarters of him. If he says it four times, Allah will free him from the Fire."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ أَوْ يُمْسِي:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ، وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ، وَمَلاَئِكَتَكَ، وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ، أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ

أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ رُبْعَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ. فَمَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ نِصْفَهُ، وَمَنْ قَالَهَا ثَلاَثًا أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَرْبَاعِهِ، فَإِنْ قَالَهَا أَرْبَعًا أَعْتَقَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ».

The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone says in the morning: "O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels, and all Thy creatures to witness that Thou art Allah than Whom there is no god, Thou being alone and without a partner, and that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy Apostle," Allah will forgive him any sins that he commits that day; and if he repeats them in the evening. Allah will forgive him any sins he commits that night.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ إِلاَّ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ فِي يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ وَإِنْ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ

“Whoever says in the morning: ‘O Allah we have reached morning, calling You to witness, and calling the carriers of Your Throne to witness, and Your angels, and all of Your creation, that You are Allah, none has the right to be worshipped but You, Alone, without partner, and that Muhammad ﷺ is Your slave and Your Messenger. (Allāhumma aṣbaḥnā nush-hiduka wa nush-hidu ḥamalata ʿarshika wa malā’ikataka wa jamīʿa khalqika bi-annaka Allāh, lā ilāha illā anta, waḥdaka lā sharīka laka, wa anna Muḥammadan ʿabduka wa rasūluk)’ Allah will forgive him for whatever he does that day, and if he says it in the evening, Allah will forgive him for whatever sin he commits that night.”

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ اللَّهُمَّ أَصْبَحْنَا نُشْهِدُكَ وَنُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ بِأَنَّكَ الله لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ إِلاَّ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ فِي يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ وَإِنْ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says, 'O Allah, I testify that You are Allah, there is no god but You, alone, without partner, and I testify that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger,' Allah will free one-third of him from the Fire. Whoever says it twice, Allah will free two-thirds of him from the Fire. Whoever says it three times, Allah will free him completely from the Fire."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَلَائِكَتَكَ وَحَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ مَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّةً أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ ثُلُثَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ ثُلُثَيْهِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ كُلَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Whoever says, 'O Allah, indeed I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You, You alone, there is no partner for You, and I bear witness that Muhammad is Your servant and messenger,' Allah will free a third of him from the Fire. And whoever says it twice, Allah will free two-thirds of him from the Fire. And whoever says it three times, Allah will free him completely from the Fire."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَلَائِكَتَكَ وَحَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ مَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّةً أَعْتَقَ اللهُ ثُلُثَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَعْتَقَ اللهُ ثُلُثَيْهِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَعْتَقَ كُلَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

[Machine] Muslim ibn Ziyad, the servant of Maymuna, the wife of the Prophet (PBUH), narrated to me that he heard Anas ibn Malik say, "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'Whoever says in the morning, 'O Allah, I testify that You are Allah, and I testify to the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels, and all Your creation that there is no deity worthy of worship except You, alone, without any partners, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger,' Allah will free one-quarter of him from the Hellfire on that day. And if he says it four times, Allah will free him from the Hellfire on that day.' Umar ibn al-Khattab and Kathir ibn Ubayd differed regarding the wording of the hadith."

حَدَّثَنِي مُسْلِمُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَلَائِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ أَعْتَقَ اللهُ رُبُعَهُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّارِ فَإِنْ قَالَهَا أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ أَعْتَقَهُ اللهُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّارِ خَالَفَهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فِي لَفْظِ الْحَدِيثِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone says in the morning: "O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels, and all Thy creatures to witness that Thou art Allah than Whom there is no god, Thou being alone and without a partner, and that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy Apostle," Allah will forgive him any sins that he commits that day; and if he repeats them in the evening. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَلَائِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ بِأَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ إِلَّا غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ وَإنْ هُوَ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ مَا أَصَابَهُ يَعْنِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ

اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَلَائِكَتَكَ وَحَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَأُشْهِدُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ مَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّةً أَعْتَقَ ثُلُثَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَعْتَقَ ثُلُثَاهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَعْتَقَ كُلَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

"مَنْ قَال حِينَ يُصْبِحُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا أَصْبَحْنَا نُشْهِدُكَ ونشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشكَ وَمَلائِكَتَكَ وَجَميِعَ خَلقِكَ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ الله، لا إِلهَ إِلا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولكَ غَفَرَ الله لَهُ مَا أَصابَ في يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ، وإِنْ قَالهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي غَفَرَ الله لَهُ مَا أَصَابَ في تِلْكَ اللَّيلَةِ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ".

"مَنْ قَال: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهدُكَ وَأُشْهدُ مَلائكَتَكَ وَحَمَلةَ عَرْشِكَ، وأُشْهِدُ مَنْ فيِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَأُشْهِدُ مَنْ في الأَرْضِ، أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ الله الَّذِي لا إِلَهَ إلا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وَأُكَفِّرُ مَنْ أَبَى ذَلِكَ مِن الأَوَّلِينَ والآخِرِينَ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ محمدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ، مَنْ قَالهَا مَرَّةً: أَعْتَقَ الله ثُلُثَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَمَنْ قَالهَا مَرَّتَينِ: أَعْتَقَ الله ثُلُثَيهِ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَمْنَ قَالهَا ثلاثًا: أَعْتَقَ الله كُلَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ".
