"عَنْ مَخْلَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْعِجْلِىِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ سَيْفُ كِسْرَى وَمِنْطَقَتُهُ وَزَبَرْجَدَتُهُ عَلَى عُمَرَ قَالَ: إِنَّ أَقْوَامًا أَدَّوَا هَذَا لَذَوُو أَمَانَةٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّكَ عَفَفْتَ فَعَفَّتِ الرَّعِيَّةُ".
