"عَنْ زرعة بن رويبة الدمشقى أن عمر بن الخطاب كتب إلى عَامِلِهِ بالشَّامِ: إذا وَقَعَ الْوَبَاءُ بأرضٍ فاكْتُبْ إلَىَّ، فلما وَقَعَ الوْبَاءُ بالشَّامِ كَتَبَ إليه فأقْبَلَ حتى قَدِمَ".
