السيوطي:٢-١٧١٣b –

"عَنِ الْقَاسِم بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: لِيَعْلَمْ مَنْ وَلِى هَذَا الأَمْرَ مِنْ بَعْدِى أَنْ سَيُرِيدُهُ عَنْهُ الْقَرِيبُ وَالْبَعِيدُ، إِنِّى لأُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ عَنْ نَفْسِى قِتَالًا، وَلَوْ عَلِمْتُ أنَّ أحَدًا مِنَ النَّاسِ أَقْوَى عَلَيْه منِّى؛ لَكُنْتُ أُقَدَّمُ فَيُضْرَبُ عُنُقِى أحَبَّ إلَىَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَلِيَهُ".

"عن سعيدِ بن المسيبِ أن عمرَ بنَ الخطابِ قالَ في وِلَايَتِهِ: مَن وَلِىَ الأمرَ بَعْدِى فليعلمْ أَن سَيُريدُهُ عنهُ القريبُ والبعيدُ، وايْمُ اللَّه ما كُنْتُ إلا أُقاتِلُ النَّاسَ عن نَفْسِى قتالًا".
