"لَيسَ الْكِبْرُ أن يُحِبَّ أَحَدُكُمْ الْجَمَال، وَلَكِنَّ الْكِبْرَ أنْ يُسَفِّه الْحَقَّ، وَيَغْمِضَ النَّاس".  

[كر] ابن عساكر في تاريخه عن خَريم بن فاتك أَنه قال: يا رسول الله: إِنى لأحب الجمال حتى إِنى لأحبُّه في شراك نَعْلى، وجلاز (*) سَوْطى وإِنَّ قومى يزعمون أنه من الكبر؟ قال: فذكره، [طب] الطبرانى في الكبير عن فاطمة بنت الحسين عن أَبيها، [طب] الطبرانى في الكبير وسمويه عن ثابت بن قيس بن شماس، [طب] الطبرانى في الكبير وسمويه، [ض] ضياء المقدسي في مختاره عن سواد بن عمرو الأَنصارى
