"المسائل كَدُوحٌ يَكدَحُ بها الرجلُ وجْهَهُ، فمن شاءَ أبقى على وجْهِهِ، ومن شاءَ تركَ إِلا أَن يسألَ الرَّجلُ ذا سلطان أَو في أَمرٍ لا يجدُ منه بُدًا" .

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "Yes, I heard him say, 'The questions are like a sharp knife that a person sharpens his face with. So whoever wants to keep his face, let him not ask them, and whoever wants to leave it, except for when a man asks a person of authority or asks about a necessary matter."

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ said, "Issues are like burdens that a person carries on his face. Zaid ibn 'Uqbah said, "So I narrated it to Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf and he said, 'Ask me, for I have authority.'"
