I used to devote myself (observe i'tikaf) during these ten (nights). Then I started devoting myself in the last ten (nights). And he who desires to observe i'tikaf along with me should spend the night) at his place of i'tikaf. And I saw this night (Lailat-ul-Qadr) but I forgot it (the exact night) ; so seek it;In the last ten nights on odd numbers. I saw (the glimpses of that dream) that I was prostrating in water and mud. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: It rained on the twenty-first night and the water dripped (from the roof) of the mosque at the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed prayer. I looked at him and as he completed the dawn prayer, (I found) his face was wet with mud and water. (Using translation from Muslim 1167a)

Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned that he would practice Iʿtikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. ʿAisha asked his permission to perform Iʿtikaf and he permitted her. Hafsa asked ʿAisha to take his permission for her, and she did so. When Zainab bint Jahsh saw that, she ordered a tent to be pitched for her and it was pitched for her. Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to proceed to his tent after the prayer. So, he saw the tents ans asked, "What is this?" He was told that those were the tents of Aisha, Hafsa, and Zainab. Allah's Apostle said, "Is it righteousness which they intended by doing so? I am not going to perform Iʿtikaf." So he returned home. When the fasting month was over, he performed Itikar for ten days in the month of Shawwal. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2045)

One of the wives of Messenger of Allah ﷺ practiced Iʿtikaf with him while she ad bleeding in between her periods and she would see red (blood) or yellowish traces, and sometimes we put a tray beneath her when she offered the prayer. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2037)
6.5 [Machine] When does the person in seclusion come to seclusion?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to observe i'tikaf in the first ten days of Ramadan, so Aisha sought permission from him and he granted her permission. Then Hafsah sought permission from him and he granted her permission. However, Zainab did not seek permission from him, but when she heard about it, she sought permission. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished praying Fajr, he went to visit those who were observing i'tikaf, and he found Aisha, Hafsah, and Zainab. He asked, "Who is this for?" They said, "For Aisha, Hafsah, and Zainab." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You want to compete in acts of goodness with this." So he did not observe i'tikaf in those ten days of Ramadan, but he observed i'tikaf in the ten days of Shawwal.

I observed i'tikaf in the first ten (nights and days) in order to seek that night (Lailat-ul-Qadr). I then observed i'tikaf in the middle ten days. Then (an angel) was sent to me and I was told that this (night) is among the last ten (nights). He who among you likes to observe i'tikaf should do so; and the people observed it along with him, and he (the Holy Prophet) said: That (Lailat-ul-Qadr) was shown to me on an odd (night) and I (saw in the dream) that I was prostrating in the morning in clay and water. So in the morning of the twenty-first night when he (the Holy Prophet) got up for dawn (prayer). there was a rainfall and the mosque dripped, and I saw clay and water. When he came out after completing the morning prayer (I saw) that his forehead and the tip of his nose had (traces) of clay and water, and that was the twenty-first night among the last ten (nights).
Safiya, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ told me that she went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ to visit him in the mosque while he was in Iʿtikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. She had a talk with him for a while, then she got up in order to return home. The Prophet ﷺ accompanied her. When they reached the gate of the mosque, opposite the door of Um-Salama, two Ansari men were passing by and they greeted Allah's Apostle . He told them: Do not run away! And said, "She is (my wife) Safiya bint Huyai." Both of them said, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of any evil) O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" And they felt it. The Prophet said (to them), "Satan reaches everywhere in the human body as blood reaches in it, (everywhere in one's body). I was afraid lest Satan might insert an evil thought in your minds." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was observing I'tikaf (in the mosque), I would come to him to visit him. I had a talk with him and then stood up. I then returned and he (the Prophet) also stood up to accompany me (to my house). Her dwelling place was in the house of Usamah b. Zaid. Two men from the Ansar (helpers) passed (by him at the moment). When they saw the Prophet ﷺ, they walked quickly. The Prophet ﷺ said: Be at ease, she is Safiyyah daughter of Huyayy. They said: Be glory to Allah, Messenger of Allah! He said: Satan runs in man like blood. I feared he might inspire something in your mind, or he said: evil (the narrator doubted). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2470)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spend the middle ten days of Ramadan in retirement and devotion (i'tikaf) in the mosque. One year he had retirement and devotion in the mosque (as usual); when the twenty-first night came, and this night when he used to come out his devotion in the mosque, he said: He who has engaged himself in devotion along with me should do so during the last ten days; I saw that night, that was caused to forget it, but I have seen myself prostrating in water and mud on the morning following (that night), so seek it in the last ten days and seek it every night with an odd number. Abu sa'id said: Rain fell that night, the mosque that was thatched building dripped, and my eyes saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the traces of water and mud, on his forehead on the morning following the twenty-first night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1382)

I asked Abu Saʿid, and he was a friend of mine, (about the Night of Qadr) and he said, "We practiced Iʿtikaf (seclusion in the mosque) in the middle third of the month of Ramadan with the Prophet ﷺ . In the morning of the 20th of Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ came and addressed us and said, 'I was informed of (the date of the Night of Qadr) but I was caused to forget it; so search for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. (In the dream) I saw myself prostrating in mud and water (as a sign). So, whoever was in Iʿtikaf with me should return to it with me (for another 10-day's period)', and we returned. At that time there was no sign of clouds in the sky but suddenly a cloud came and it rained till rainwater started leaking through the roof of the mosque which was made of date-palm leaf stalks. Then the prayer was established and I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrating in mud and water and I saw the traces of mud on his forehead." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2016)
