6. Retiring to a Mosque
٦۔ كِتَابُ الِاعْتِكَافِ
[Machine] From Safiyyah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , that the Prophet ﷺ used to observe itikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan.
عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «اعْتَكَفَ الْعَشْرَ الْغَوَابِرَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ»
[Machine] Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe Itikaf (seclusion for worship) during the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah the Exalted took his soul. Abu Abdullah (Al-Bukhari) said: Ibn Juraij did not agree with him (Abu Hurairah).
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللهُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe Iʿtikāf (spiritual retreat) during the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah took him. Then his wives observed Iʿtikāf after him. Abu ʿAbdul-Raḥmān narrated it from Al-Laith from Az-Zuhrī from Saʿīd as a Mursal Hadith.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى تَوَفَّاهُ اللهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ أَزْوَاجُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَوَاهُ اللَّيْثُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ مُرْسَلًا
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) used to observe i'tikif in the last ten days of Ramadan till Allah called him back (to his heavenly home). Then his wives observed i'tikaf after him. (Using translation from Muslim 1172c)
إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى تَوَفَّاهُ اللهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ أَزْوَاجُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ
The Prophet ﷺ used to observe retirement (i'tikaf) to the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan till Allah took him, and then his wives observed retirement to the mosque after his death. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2462)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى تَوَفَّاهُ اللهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ أَزْوَاجُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ»
[Machine] Aisha used to seclude herself during the last ten nights, and she would not enter her house except for necessary human needs.
كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ «تَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ فَلَا تَدْخُلُ بَيْتِهَا إِلَّا لِحَاجَةِ الْإِنْسَانِ الَّتِي لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنْهَا»
[Machine] Aisha used to stay in the mosque and would stay in seclusion for the last ten nights of Ramadan. She would not go to her house except for a necessary human need.
أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ كَانَتْ «إِذَا اعْتَكَفَتْ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَكَانَتْ تَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْغَوَابِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَلَا تَدْخُلُ بَيْتَهَا إِلَّا لِحَاجَةِ الْإِنْسَانِ الَّتِي لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنْهَا»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe the last ten nights of Ramadan in seclusion. Abu Abdullah said, "This hadith was narrated by Muhammad bin Amr. If his nickname was Abu al-Hasan, then he may be a Muhajir (immigrant)." Shu'bah also narrated from him.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يُعْتَكَفُ الْعَشْرُ الْأَوَاخِرُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَدْ رَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو فَإِنْ كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو كُنْيَتُهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ فَلَعَلَّهُ وَمُهَاجِرٌ كُنْيَتُهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنُ وَقَدْ رَوَى عَنْهُ شُعْبَةُ
