The Prophet ﷺ ordered us to do seven (things) and forbade us from seven. He ordered us to visit the patients, to follow the funeral procession, to reply to the sneezer (i.e., say to him, 'Yarhamuka-l-lah (May Allah bestow His Mercy upon you), if he says 'Al-hamduli l-lah' (Praise be to Allah), to help others to fulfill their oaths, to help the oppressed, to greet (whomever one should meet), and to accept the invitation (to a wedding banquet). He forbade us to wear golden rings, to use silver utensils, to use Maiyathir (cushions of silk stuffed with cotton and placed under the rider on the saddle), the Qasiyya (linen clothes containing silk brought from an Egyptian town), the Istibraq (thick silk) and the Dibaj (another kind of silk).
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The rider follows the funeral procession, and the one walking may go wherever he wants from it, and prayers are performed for the deceased child." Ishaaq ibn Ibrahim and Ali ibn Hujr and Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated from Sufyan from al-Zuhri from Salim from his father that he saw the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr and Umar walking in front of the funeral procession. Abu Abd al-Rahman said, "This hadith is a mistake, and it contains the error of Ibn Uyaynah. Malik contradicted him and narrated it from al-Zuhri as marfu."
[Machine] He informed him that he saw the Prophet and Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman walking in front of the funeral procession. Only Abu Bakr was mentioned, Uthman was not mentioned. Abu Abdur-Rahman told us that this is also a mistake and the correct version is Mursal (a type of Hadith) and this came to me only and Allah knows best because this hadith was narrated by Az-Zuhri from Salim from his father that he used to walk in front of the funeral procession. He said and the Prophet, Abu Bakr, and Umar used to walk in front of the funeral procession. He said and the Prophet said that this is only from the statement of Az-Zuhri. Ibn Al-Mubarak said that the scholars who narrated from Ibn Shihab are three, Malik, Ma'mar, and Ibn Uyaynah, so if two of them agree on something, we take their statement and leave the statement of the other. Abu Abdur-Rahman told us and Ibn Al-Mubarak mentioned this statement in this hadith.

3.61 [Machine] Prayer for the Martyrs
a man from among the Bedouins came to the Prophet and believed in him and followed him, then he said: "I will emigrate with you." The Prophet told one of his Companions to look after him. During one battle the Prophet got some prisoners as spoils of war, and he distributed them, giving him (that Bedouin) a share. His Companions gave him what had been allocated to him. He had been looking after some livestock for them, and when he came they gave him his share. He said: "What is this?" They said: "A share that the Prophet has allocated to you." He took it and brought it to the Prophet and said: "What is this?" He said: "I allocated it to your." He said: "It is not for this that I follwed you. Rather I followed you so that I might be shot her - and he pointed to his throat - with an arrow and die and enter Paradise." He said: "If you are sincere toward Allah, Allah will fulfill your wish." Shortly after that they got up to fight the enemy, then he was brought to the Prophet; he had pointed to. The Prophet said: "Is it him?" They said: "yes." He said: "He was sincere toward Allah and Allah fulfilled his wish." Then the Prophet shrouded him in his own cloak and out him in front of him and offered the (funeral) prayer for him. During his supplication he said: "O allah, this is Your sloave who went out as a emigrant (Muhajir) for your sake and was killed as a martyr; I am a witness to that.: (Sahih) .
[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to combine two people from the martyrs of Uhud in one shroud. Then he would say, "Which of them took more of the Qur'an?" When he was pointed to one of them, he would place him in the grave and say, "I bear witness on behalf of them on the Day of Resurrection." And he ordered them to be buried with their blood and not to offer the funeral prayer for them or wash their bodies. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said to us, and this is also what we do not know, no one from the trustworthy companions of Al-Zuhri followed Al-Layth in this narration, and they differed with Al-Zuhri on it. We have already explained their difference regarding this matter.

a man from Aslam came to the Prophet and confessed to committing Zina, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. He admitted it again, and he turned away from him. Then when he had testified against himself four times, the Prophet said: "Are your crazy?" He said: "No." He said: "Have you been marred?" he said: "Yes." So the Prophet ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he ran away, but they caught up with him and stoned him and he died. Then the Prophet spoke well of him but he did not pray for him.
a woman from Juhainah came to the Messenger of Allah sand said: "I have committed Zina." And she was committed Zina." And She was pregnant. He handed her over to her guardian and said: "Look after her, and when she gave birth, he brought her to him. He ordered that her garment be wrapped around her, then he offered the funeral prayer for her. 'Umar said to him: "Are you praying for her even though she committed Zina?" he said: "She has repented in a manner that, if it were to be shared among seventy of the people of Al-Madinah it would suffice them. Have you ever seen repentance better than the one who sacrificed herself for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime?" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1957)

"When 'Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Soul died, the Messenger of Allah was called upon to offer the funeral prayer for him. When the Messenger of Allah stood up (to offer the prayer), I got up quickly and said: 'O Messenger of Allah Are you going to pray for Ibn Ubayy when he said such-and-such an occasion?' And I stated to list all the things that he had said. The Messenger of Allah smiled and said: 'Leave me alone, O 'Umar.' When I spoke too much he said: 'I have been given the choice and I have chosen (to offer the prayer for him). If I knew that he could be forgiven by asking Allah's forgiveness more than seventy times, I would have done so.' The Messenger of Allah offered the funeral prayer for him, and then left. A short while later, the two Verses form surah Bara were revealed: 'And never pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were rebellious.' Later I was astonished by my audacity toward the Messenger of Allah on that day. And Allah and His Messenger know best." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1966)

"A poor woman in Al-Awali fell sick and the Prophet used to ask them about her. He said: 'If she dies, do not bury her until I have offered the funeral prayer for her. She died and they brought her to Al-Madinah after dark, and they found that the Messenger of Allah had gone to sleep. They did not like to wake him up, so they offered the funeral prayer for her and buried her in Baqi' Al-Gharqab. The next morning they came and the Messenger of Allah asked them about her. They said: 'She has been buried, O Messenger of Allah. We came to you and found you sleeping, and we did not like to wake you up.' He said: 'let's go.' He set out walking and they went with him and showed him her grave. The Messenger of Allah stood and they formed rows behind him, and he offered the funeral prayer for her, saying the Takbir four times." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1969)
3.72 [Machine] The rows at the funeral
the Messenger of Allah said: "Your brother An-Najashi has died, so get up and offer the funeral prayer for him." He stood up and put us in rows as is done for the funeral prayer, and we prayed for him. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1970)
