"I heard Anas bin Malik say: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The dead person is followed by three: His family, his wealth and his deeds. Then two of them come back: His family and his wealth, and there remain only his deeds."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1937)

Three things follow the bier of a dead man. Two of them come back and one is left with him: the members of his family, wealth and his good deeds. The members of his family and wealth come back and the deeds alone are left with him.

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Three things follow the deceased: his family, his wealth, and his deeds. Two of them return, his family and his wealth, and the one thing that remains is his deeds" [377] 11761. And it was narrated by Suwaid ibn Nasr, from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah.
