Rush to do to good deeds before tribulations overtake you

muslim:118Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb > Qutaybah > Ibn Ḥujr > Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar > al-ʿAlāʾ > abīhi > Abī Hurayrah

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Hasten to do deeds before trials like pieces of the dark night: a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning, selling his religion for a worldly gain."

Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a Muslim in the morning and an unbeliever in the evening or he would be a believer in the evening and an unbeliever in the morning, and would sell his faith for worldly goods. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hasten to perform good deeds before a time comes upon you like the dark night. During that time, a person will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning. He will sell his religion for worldly gains."
