[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was afflicted with death, Fatimah and her family cried. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be no sorrow upon your father after today."

[Machine] She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ complained, and his wives said to him, "Look for a place where you would like to be, and we will come to you." He said ﷺ, "Would all of you do that?" They said, "Yes." So he moved to the house of Aisha and died there ﷺ.

[Machine] Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, asked me on which day the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , passed away. I replied, "On Monday." He said, "I had hoped to die on that day." And indeed, he died on Monday at dusk and was buried during the night.

ibnhibban:6617Muḥammad b. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm a freed slave of Thaqīf

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ died on the day of my morning and evening prayers. Abdullah ibn Abu Bakr came to visit him with a wet toothbrush, and I thought that he needed it, so I took it, chewed it, tasted it, and freshened my breath with it. Then he went to sit up and fell down, so I started to supplicate to Allah with a supplication that Gabriel used to make or that the Prophet used to make when he fell sick, saying, "The highest companion of Paradise, rather." He said it three times, and his soul departed. His wife said, "Praise be to Allah Who has reunited my breath with the breath of the Prophet in his last day in this world."

[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was approaching death, he would lay a corner of his cloak on his face. And when it dimmed (became dark) he would remove it from his face and say, 'May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and Christians for they have taken the graves of their prophets as places of worship.'"

[Machine] "That the Muslims were praying Fajr prayer on Monday and Abu Bakr was leading them, and none of them was surprised except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had uncovered the curtain of Aisha's room and looked at them while they were in their rows of prayer. Then he smiled and laughed, and Abu Bakr stepped backward to join the row, thinking that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to go out for prayer."

[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, Umar ibn Al-Khattab stood up among the people to deliver a sermon, and he said, 'I do not hear anyone say that Muhammad ﷺ has died. Muhammad ﷺ has not died, but rather his Lord has sent for him, just as He sent for Moses. So he stayed away from his people for forty nights.'"

ibnhibban:6620dal-Zuhrī > Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAwf

Abu Bakr came riding a horse from his home in As-Sunuh, then he dismounted and entered the Masjid. He did not speak to the people until he met 'Aishah and the Messenger of Allah was covered with a Hibrah Burd. He uncovered his face, bent over him and kissed him, and wept. Then he said: "May my father be ransomed for you. By Allah! Allah will never cause you to die twice; the death that was decreed for you, you have died." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1841)

ibnhibban:6620eal-Zuhrī > Abū Salamah > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] "Abu Bakr left and Umar started to address the people. He said 'Sit down', but Umar refused to sit. He said 'Sit down', but Umar still refused to sit. Then Abu Bakr stood up and people flocked to him, leaving Umar behind. Abu Bakr said, 'O people, whoever among you worships Muhammad, then know that Muhammad has passed away. But whoever worships Allah, then know that Allah is alive and does not die.'"

ibnhibban:6620fal-Zuhrī > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib > ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb > And al-Lah Mā > Illā

[Machine] "When I heard Abu Bakr recite it, my legs trembled and I almost fell to the ground. And I knew when I heard him recite it that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had passed away."

ibnhibban:6620gal-Zuhrī > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] He heard from Umar ibn al-Khattab on the morning when Abu Bakr was being sworn in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Bakr stood on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then Umar stood and performed the Tashahhud before Abu Bakr. Then he said, "As for what follows, I said to you yesterday a statement that was not as I said. By Allah, I did not find it in a book that Allah revealed, nor in a covenant that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made with me. Rather, I had hoped that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would live so that he could rectify our affairs until he would be the last among us. But Allah, exalted and glorified, chose for His Messenger ﷺ that which He has with Him over that which you have. And this is the Book of Allah, a guidance from Allah, by which His Messenger ﷺ guides. So take it and be guided by what Allah has guided His Messenger ﷺ with."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, his companions looked at him and expressed their doubts about his bathing. They said, "Shall we wash the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as we wash our dead or what should we do?" So Allah sent down a revelation, and none of them lifted their heads except to hear a caller from the house who would call, and they did not know who it was. The caller said, "Wash the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and dress him with his clothes." Aisha said, "If I had known that this is what the revelation required, I would not have hesitated to wash him, except that women have this duty."

[Machine] When they gathered to wash the Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ), they disagreed among themselves. They said, "By Allah, we do not know if we should undress the Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) as we undress our dead or wash him while he is wearing his clothes." Allah then sent sleep upon them until all of them tasted it, and then a caller from a side of the house called out, "Do they not know what to do with washing the Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) and his clothes?" So they rushed towards him like a single man and washed the Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) and his clothes, pouring water on him and massaging him from behind the clothes. And the one who assisted him in his chamber was Ali bin Abi Talib, who supported him against his chest. She (the narrator) said, "I did not see anything from the Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) that was seen from the dead."
