" And warn thy nearest kindred," the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up on Safa' and said: O Fatima, daughter of Muhammad. O Safiya, daughter of 'Abd al-Muttalib, O sons of 'Abd al-Muttalib. I have nothing which can avail you against Allah; you may ask me what you want of my worldly belongings. (Using translation from Muslim 205)
"The Messenger of Allah said, when the Verse: 'And warn your tribe (O Muhammad) of near kindred.' was revealed: 'O Quraish! Buy your souls from your Lord; I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Banu 'Abdul-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Safiyyah, paternal aunt of the Messenger of Allah! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Fatimah bint Muhammad! Ask me for whatever you want, I cannot avail you anything before Allah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3646)
[Machine] When the verse {And warn your closest relatives} was revealed, along with your tribe among them, the sincere ones, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emerged until he reached Mount Safa. He ascended it and called out, "O Sabahah!" People gathered around him, and there was a man coming and a man being sent as a messenger between them. He ﷺ said, "O sons of Abd al-Muttalib, O sons of Fihr, O sons of Abd Manaf, O sons of sons! Would you believe me if I told you that there are horses at the foot of this mountain that are about to charge at you?" They said, "Yes." He ﷺ said, "Well, I am warning you of a severe punishment that is about to descend upon you." Then Abu Lahab said, "Perish you for the rest of the day! Did you gather us here just for this?" He then stood up, and the verse {Perish the hands of Abu Lahab} was revealed, and it was affirmed. They said, "We have not seen you lying."
[Machine] "When the verse {and warn your closest relatives} was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ, al-Ash'ari put his fingers in his ears, raised his voice and said, 'O sons of Abd Manaf.' Then he conveyed the news."
[Machine] "Blessed are these eyes that have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . By Allah, we wish we had seen what you saw and witnessed what you witnessed. May anger befall whosoever claims anything extraordinary other than good, then he approached the Messenger ﷺ and said, 'What motivates a person to resemble someone he has never seen, not knowing how he would have been in his presence? By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appeared to people, but they turned away from him and disbelieved him. Should you not praise Allah when He brought you out, recognizing your Lord and confirming what your Prophet ﷺ brought? Indeed, you were spared from affliction through means other than yourselves. By Allah, the Prophet ﷺ was sent in the most difficult circumstances that no prophet before him had ever experienced during a period of ignorance. They did not perceive any religion better than idol worship until he brought a clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and between a parent and his child. To the extent that a person might see his child, parent, or brother as a disbeliever, while Allah has opened the lock of his heart to faith, knowing that if he perishes, he would enter Hell, yet his eyes do not shed a tear, and he is aware that his beloved is in Hell, and that is the one to whom Allah has said: "Those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes' –" (Quran 25:74).
