I said: Messenger of Allah, the son of Jud'an established ties of relationship, fed the poor. Would that be of any avail to him? He said: It would be of no avail to him as he did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of Resurrection.

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ابْنُ جُدْعَانَ كَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ فَهَلْ ذَاكَ نَافِعُهُ قَالَ لاَ يَنْفَعُهُ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Ibn Jud'an used to uphold the ties of kinship and feed the poor during the pre-Islamic period. Is that beneficial for him?" He replied, "No, O Aisha, as he never said, 'My Lord, forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.'"

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ابْنُ جُدْعَانَ كَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيُطْعِمُ الْمَسَاكِينَ فَهَلْ ذَاكَ نَافِعُهُ؟ قَالَ لَا يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَالدِّينِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abdullah ibn Jud'an used to honor guests, tie family bonds, be kind to the neighbors during the pre-Islamic era. I praised him, so will that be beneficial for him?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, for he never said, 'O Allah, forgive me on the day of judgment.' And he only said 'I forgive' once, so you praised him."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ جُدْعَانَ كَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ وَيَفُكُّ الْعَانِيَ وَيَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيُحْسِنُ الْجِوَارَ فَأَثْنَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا قَطُّ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي يَوْمَالدِّينِ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً فَأَثْنَتْ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] She said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abdullah bin Jud'an used to honor guests, maintain family ties, and do good deeds. Will that benefit him?" أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جُدْعَانَ كَانَ يُقْرِي الضَّيْفَ وَيَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيَفْعَلُ وَيَفْعَلُ أَيَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ لَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا قَطُّ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ «صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» صحيح

[AI] I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : "Verily, Ibn Jud'an in the pre-Islamic era used to honor the guest, maintain good relations with neighbors, and uphold family ties. Does this benefit him?" He ﷺ said, "No, for he never uttered the words: 'O Allah, forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement."

قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ ابْنَ جُدْعَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَانَ يَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ وَيُحْسِنُ الْجِوَارَ وَيَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «لَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا قَطُّ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ»

"كيفَ يَا عَائِشَةُ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ ساعَةً قَط منْ لَيلٍ أوْ نَهَارٍ: ربَّ اغفِرْ لي خطِيئَتِى يَوْمَ الدِّين".

"عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ الله! ابن جدعَان كَانَ يَحْمل الْيَتِيمَ، ويَصل الرَّحِمَ وَيَفْعَل وَيَفْعَلُ، قَالَ: فكَيْفَ يَفْعَل يَا عَائِشَةُ وَلَم يَقُلْ سَاعَةً مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهارٍ: رَبِّ اغْفِر لِي خطيئتي يَوْمَ الدِّين".
