The Qur'an is recited in every prayer and in those prayers in which Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited aloud for us, we recite aloud in the same prayers for you; and the prayers in which the Prophet ﷺ recited quietly, we recite quietly. If you recite "Al-Fatiha" only it is sufficient but if you recite something else in addition, it is better.

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقُولُ فِي كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ يُقْرَأُ فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَى عَنَّا أَخْفَيْنَا عَنْكُمْ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَزِدْ عَلَى أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ أَجْزَأَتْ وَإِنْ زِدْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: One is not credited with having observed the prayer without the recitation (of al-Fatiha). So said Abu Huraira: (The prayer in which) the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited in a loud voice, we also recited that loudly for you (and the prayer in which) he recited inwardly we also recited inwardly for you (to give you a practical example of the prayer of the Holy Prophet).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ صَلاَةَ إِلاَّ بِقِرَاءَةٍ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَمَا أَعْلَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَعْلَنَّاهُ لَكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَاهُ أَخْفَيْنَاهُ لَكُمْ

Recitation (of Surat al-Fatiha) in every (rak'ah) of prayer in essential. (The recitation) that we listened to from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we made you listen to it. And that which he recited inwardly to us, we recited it inwardly for you. And he who recites Umm al-Qur'an, it is enough for him (to complete the prayer), and he who adds to it (recites some other verses of the Holy Qur'an along with Surat al-Fatiha), it is preferable for him.

أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فِي كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَى مِنَّا أَخْفَيْنَاهُ مِنْكُمْ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ فَقَدْ أَجْزَأَتْ عَنْهُ وَمَنْ زَادَ فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ

In every prayer there is a recitation. We make you listen what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made us listen, and we keep hidden from you what he kept hidden from us.

أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا أَخْفَيْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ

"Abu Hurairah said: "In should be recitation in every prayer. What the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made us hear (by reciting out loud) we make you hear, and what he hid from us (by reciting silently) we hide from you.'"

أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ كُلُّ صَلاَةٍ يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَاهَا أَخْفَيْنَا مِنْكُمْ

"In every prayer there is recitation. What the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made us hear (by reciting out loud) we make you hear, and what he hid from us (by reciting silently) we hide from you."

أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَاهَا أَخْفَيْنَا مِنْكُمْ

[AI] He heard Abu Huraira informed them in every prayer that what we hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we convey to you, and what is hidden from us, we keep it hidden from you. Ibn Bakr said, in every prayer there is recitation of the Quran.

[AI] Regarding prayer, the intensity of the heat is like the sudden eruption of Hellfire in every prayer. There is recitation in every prayer. We have never heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite louder than you, nor have we heard him recite more quietly than he did with you.

عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَوْرِ جَهَنَّمَ فِي كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْوَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا أَخْفَيْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ

«كُلُّ الصَّلَاةِ يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَى مِنَّا أَخْفَيْنَا مِنْكُمْ»

[AI] I heard Abu Hurairah saying, "In every prayer, there is recitation." So we never heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) reciting so loudly that you could hear him, nor did he recite so softly that you could not hear him.

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ «فِي كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ» فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا أَخْفَيْنَا عَنْكُمْ

أسمعنا رسول الله ﷺ أسمعناكم وما أخفى علينا أخفينا عليكم<

"عَنْ أَبى هريرة قَالَ: في كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ، فَمَا أَعْلَنَ رسولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْلَنّا وَمَا أَخْفَى أَخْفَيْنَا".
