[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a shirt, so he gave it to Abu Jahl, who took his cloak from it. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, the shirt is better than the cloak." He said, "Indeed, I used to look at its whiteness during prayer."
كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ خَمِيصَةٌ فَأَعْطَاهَا أَبَا جَهْمٍ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ أَنْبِجَانِيَّتَهُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْخَمِيصَةَ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْأَنْبِجَانِيَّةِ قَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى عَلَمِهَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ
Malik related to me from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wore a fine striped garment f rom Syria, and then gave it to Abu Jahm and took a plain, rough, garment in return. Abu Jahm asked, "Messenger of Allah! Why?" He said, "I looked at its stripes in the prayer."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَبِسَ خَمِيصَةً شَامِيَّةً لَهَا عَلَمٌ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهَا أَبَا جَهْمٍ وَأَخَذَ مِنْ أَبِي جَهْمٍ أَنْبِجَانِيَّةً لَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلِمَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَى عَلَمِهَا فِي الصَّلاَةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ had a garment that he gave to Abu Jahmah, and he took a cloak in exchange for it. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the garment is better than the cloak." He replied, "I used to look at its design during prayer."
