[Machine] The companions of Muhammad ﷺ used to shake hands when they met, and when they returned from a journey, they would embrace each other. And Allah knows best.  

البيهقي:١٣٥٧٥وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السَّرَّاجُ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ غَالِبٍ التَّمَّارِ قَالَ كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ يَكْرَهُ الْمُصَافَحَةَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلشَّعْبِيِّ فَقَالَ

كَانَ أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ إِذَا الْتَقَوْا صَافَحُوا فَإِذَا قَدِمُوا مِنْ سَفَرٍ عَانَقَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
