8. Ṣalāh for Rain (Istisqāʾ)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with the people to seek rain. He prayed two loud-rak'ahs, reciting in them. Then, he turned his cloak inside out and sought rain and faced the Qiblah. He did more than this, as reported by 'Abd al-Razzaq, and he raised his hands and supplicated, so he was supplicated to, and he sought rain 6400. Abu Bakr ibn al-Harith al-Faqih informed us, 'Ali ibn 'Umar al-Hafidh narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Isma'il narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq mentioned him with his addition.
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day to pray for rain. He led us in praying two Rak’ah without any Adhan or Iqamah, then he addressed us and supplicated to Allah. He turned to face the Qiblah, raising his hands, then he turned his cloak around, putting its right on the left and its left on the right.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1268)
[Machine] reported to have asked the Prophet ﷺ about his prayer during the prayer for rain. The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, but your cousin sent you. Even if he had sent someone else, he would have asked about it. Then Ibn Abbas said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out looking humble and supplicating until he sat on the pulpit. He did not give a sermon like yours, but he continued to make supplications, humble himself, and recite takbeer. Then he prayed two Rak'ahs as he used to pray on Eid." This is the narration of Ibrahim ibn Musa and the narration of Yahya ibn Yahya with its meaning, except that Al-Walid ibn Utbah said, "Abu Dawud As-Sijistani considered Ibn Utbah's saying as correct. May Allah have mercy on him." This narration suggests that his supplication was before the prayer and he did not stop making supplications.
[Machine] In English: "That he would come to me and ask me? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out humbly, supplicating and humbling himself, and he did not deliver your sermon that way. He prayed two units of prayer as he prays on Eid. Sufyan said: I said to the Shaykh, is the sermon before the two units of prayer or after them? He said: I do not know, so this indicates that Hisham did not memorize it and he had…"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out humbly and humbly when he sought rain, as he does on the two Eids. This was narrated by Abdullah bin Yusuf al-Tinisi from Ismail bin Rabia in its meaning.
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ draped his cloak over his left shoulder, placing his right hand on his left hand, and performed the two Rak'ahs. He invoked Takbir seven times in the first Rak'ah, recited "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika" (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You) and recited Surah Al-A'la (The Most High). In the second Rak'ah, he invoked Takbir five times.
[Machine] On both Eid days, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to seek rain. He performed two Rak'ahs (units of prayer) without Adhan or Iqamah. He said twelve Takbirs (saying Allahu Akbar) in them, seven in the first and five in the second. He recited aloud in the prayer, then he turned away and delivered a sermon. He faced the Qiblah (direction of prayer) and turned his cloak. Then Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz sought rain. This is not a strong Hadith, and it is strengthened by the previous evidence.
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Yazid al-Ansari went out to seek rain from the people. He then prayed two rak'ahs and sought rain. On that day, I met Zaid ibn Arqam, and there was no one between him and me except one man. I asked him, "How many battles did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wage?" He said, "Nineteen battles." I asked, "How many battles did you participate in with him?" He said, "Seventeen battles." I asked, "Which was the first battle that he fought?" He said, "The Battle of Ushayrah or the Battle of Ushayra."
