15. Chapter
[Machine] That the Prophet, ﷺ , sold a poor man who was in debt.
[Machine] He was presented with money, so he took a large sum and spent it all. Then the man realized that he had no money left, so he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to sell this disconnected thing.
[Machine] Abu Al-Walid Al-Faqih, Abu Abdullah Al-Hafidh, Ali Ibn Isa Al-Hairi, Muhammad Ibn Ishaq Ibn Khuza'imah, Muhammad Ibn Bashar, Abdul Samad Ibn Abdul Warith, Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdullah Ibn Dinar, Zaid Ibn Aslam said: "I saw a sheikh in Alexandria called Surraq. I asked him what this name meant. He said it was a name given to him by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and that he would not change it. I asked him why they called him that, and he said, 'I came to Madinah and informed them that I had money to invest, so they pledged their allegiance to me. I consumed their wealth, and they brought me to the Prophet ﷺ who said, 'You are a thief.' He sold me for four camels. The Ghurama' said to the one who bought me, 'What will you do with him?' He said, 'I will set him free.' They said, 'We are not more righteous than you in reward, so set him free among us.' And so, my name remained, as did its meaning."

[Machine] During the time of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he had debts to men that we did not know were lawful to sell in debt. Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Muhammad informed us that Abu al-Husayn al-Fasawi narrated to us from Abu Ali al-Lu'lu'i who narrated from Abu Dawud, and he mentioned it.
