[Machine] I and my brother sat in a gathering, which I wish to have the blessings of. We both approached a group of companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who were sitting next to one of the doors of his rooms. We disliked separating them, so we sat in a corner. Then they mentioned a verse from the Quran and debated about it until their voices became raised. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out angrily with his face turned red. He began throwing dirt at them saying, "Wait, O people! This is how nations before you were destroyed; by disputing with their prophets and contradicting their scriptures. The Quran has not been revealed for you to deny parts of it. It confirms and supports one another. So whatever you know from it, act upon it, and whatever you are ignorant about, refer it to those who have knowledge."  

لَقَدْ جَلَسْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي مَجْلِسًا مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِهِ حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ أَقْبَلْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي وَإِذَا مَشْيَخَةٌ مِنْ صَحَابَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جُلُوسٌ عِنْدَ بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهِ فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَجَلَسْنَا حَجْرَةً إِذْ ذَكَرُوا آيَةً مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فَتَمَارَوْا فِيهَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُغْضَبًا قَدِ احْمَرَّ وَجْهُهُيَرْمِيهِمْ بِالتُّرَابِ وَيَقُولُ مَهْلًا يَا قَوْمِ بِهَذَا أُهْلِكَتِ الْأُمَمُ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ وَضَرْبِهِمُ الْكُتُبَ بَعْضَهَا بِبَعْضٍ إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ يُكَذِّبُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا بَلْ يُصَدِّقُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا فَمَا عَرَفْتُمْ مِنْهُ فَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ وَمَا جَهِلْتُمْ مِنْهُ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى عَالِمِهِ
