[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah and asked him, "Did you write this letter?" He replied, "Yes, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, my faith has not changed in my heart. But there is no man from the Quraysh except that he has relatives and a family who prevent him from practicing his religion. I wrote this letter hoping that Allah would protect my family through it." Umar asked for permission to strike Hatib, saying, "Are you fighting against him?" Hatib replied, "Yes, if you permit me." Umar asked, "What if Allah has already informed the people of Badr?" Hatib said, "Then let them do as they wish."
