ahmad-zuhd:1006ʿAbdullāh from my father > Jarīr > Layth > Ṭāwus

[Machine] And he was told, "If you command, we can gather from this rock and wood and build for you a mosque." He said, "Indeed, I fear that I will be burdened with its carrying on the Day of Resurrection, on my back."

ahmad-zuhd:1007ʿAbdullāh from my father > Sulaymān > Ziyād a freed slave of Liquraysh > Muʿāwiyah b. Qurrah

[Machine] Mu'adh, may Allah have mercy on him, said to his son, "O my son, when you pray a prayer, pray it as if it is a farewell prayer. Do not assume that you will return to it forever. And know, O my son, that a believer dies between two good deeds: the good deed he performed first and the good deed he performed last."

[Machine] Mu'adh heard him saying, "There is nothing that can save a person from the punishment of Allah more than the remembrance of Allah." They said, "Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah?" He replied, "Not even if he strikes with his sword in the cause of Allah until it breaks."

[Machine] Fast and break your fast, pray and sleep, earn and do not sin, and do not die except as a Muslim. And beware of the invocation of the oppressed.

[Machine] Look, we have reached the morning, and what has come to pass has been brought up. It was said to him, "You did not become morning until some of that came to pass." It was said to him, "You have already become morning." He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from a night whose morning leads to the Fire. Welcome to death, welcome to a visitor who will depart, welcome to a beloved guest who has come upon poverty. O Allah, indeed I used to fear You, but today I hope in You. O Allah, if You know that I did not love this world and its longevity for the palaces of rivers and the planting of trees, but rather for the thirst of the thirsty, the striving of the moments, and the companionship of the scholars during the gatherings of remembrance."

When he reached the age of arrival, he sat on the road to see how he was doing compared to what he had left behind. [Machine] "Abu Hurairah stood on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Medina, below the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand at the gate. He said, 'All praise is due to Allah who guided Abu Hurairah to Islam. All praise is due to Allah who taught Abu Hurairah the Quran. All praise is due to Allah who granted me honor through Muhammad ﷺ. All praise is due to Allah who fed me yeast and clothed me in wool. All praise is due to Allah who married me to the daughter of Ghazwan after I used to serve her as a slave with the food of my stomach. She kicked me out, and I kicked her just as she kicked me. Then he said, 'Woe to the Arabs from an impending evil! Woe to them from the rule of immature youths who judge them based on their desires and kill them out of anger. Rejoice, O children of Farrukh! Rejoice, O children of Farrukh! By the One in whose hand is my soul, if religion were suspended in the Pleiades, some people from among you would attain it.'"

So, when two matters come to you, one for the hereafter and one for this world, start with the matter of the hereafter and give it priority, for it will come to you and complete it. Then, it will honor and respect you. Then, it will depart with you wherever you go. He said, "By Allah, it was as if the advice of a people was written on my heart, and Allah instilled in my heart what he said." So when he passed by me, I asked, "Who is this man?" [Machine] "It has reached me what you say. Indeed, this is a mercy from your Lord and the supplication of your Prophet ﷺ. It was sufficient for the righteous before you, but they feared what is more severe than that: a person from among you going to his home not knowing whether he is a believer or a hypocrite, and they feared the tyranny of the rulers."
