adab:729Abdullah bin Amir (ra) said that a man says:

(O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the distress of trial and then stops. When he makes this supplication he should also say (except a trial that produces elevation of ranks)  

الأدب المفرد:٧٢٩حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُجَاهِدٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ يَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلاَءِ ثُمَّ يَسْكُتُ فَإِذَا

قَالَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَقُلْ إِلاَّ بَلاَءً فِيهِ عَلاءٌ
