The Prophet ﷺ fasted for days continuously; the people also did the same but it was difficult for them. So, the Prophet ﷺ forbade them (to fast continuously for more than one day). They slid, "But you fast without break (no food was taken in the evening or in the morning)." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I am not like you, for I am provided with food and drink (by Allah).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَاصَلَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَنَهَاهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade Al-Wisal. The people said (to him), "But you practice it?" He said, "I am not like you, for I am given food and drink by Allah."

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

You yourself fast uninterruptedly, whereupon he said: I am not like you. I am fed and supplied drink (by Allah).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

You yourself observe the fasts uninterruptedly (but you forbid us to do so) Upon this he said: I am not like you; I am fed and supplied drink (by Allah).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَاصَلَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ قِيلَ لَهُ أَنْتَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ forbade them (his Companions) to observe Saum Wisal out of mercy for them. They said: You (Holy Prophet) yourself observe it. Upon this he said: I am not like you. My Lord feeds me and provides me drink.

نَهَاهُمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ رَحْمَةً لَهُمْ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting for two days or more without breaking the fast in between. They said, "But Messenger of Allah, you practise wisal." He replied, "I am not the same as you. I am fed and given to drink."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of wisal. Beware of wisal." They said, "But you practise wisal, Messenger of Allah." He replied, "I am not the same as you. My Lord feeds me and gives me to drink."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued to fast in Ramadan, so people continued to fast. They said, "You forbade us from fasting continuously, but you continue to fast." He said, "I am not like any of you. I am fed and offered drink."

وَاصَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَقَالُوا نَهَيْتَنَا عَنِ الْوِصَالِ وَأَنْتَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ forbade intimate relations during fasting. It was said to him, 'Certainly, you do it.' He replied, 'I am not like any of you. Indeed, my Lord provides me with food and drink.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فِي الصِّيَامِفَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited perpetual fasting. They (the people) said: You keep perpetual fasting, Messenger of Allah. He said: My position is not like that you yours. I am provided with food and drink. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2360)

وَاصَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ؟ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

You yourself fast uninterruptedly, whereupon he said: I am not like you. I am fed and supplied drink (by Allah). (Using translation from Muslim 1102a)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَتُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاصَلَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْإِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The translation in English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted in Ramadan, and when people saw him, they advised against it. It was said to him, 'Indeed, you fast continuously.' He replied, 'I am not like you, for I am fed and given to drink.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاصَلَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَرَآهُ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُمِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade meeting together. It was said, "Don't you communicate?" He said, "Indeed, I am fed and given drink."

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقِيلَ أَوَلَسْتَ تُوَاصِلُ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited mingling. It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, you engage in mingling." He replied, "I am not like you, indeed, I remain in the company of my Lord and He feeds me and gives me drink."

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding constant companionship. It was then asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about you? What do you do?' He replied: 'I am not like any of you. I am fed and given drink.'"

قَالَسَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالَ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَمَا لَكَ أَنْتَ تَفْعَلُهُ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not continue to ask." They said, "But you keep asking, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "I am not like you. I spend the night being fed and watered."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade seeking proximity through acts of worship. It was said, 'But you constantly engage in acts of worship.' He replied, 'Indeed, I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and provides me with drink.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالَ فَقِيلَ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not continue a sentence after I have stopped speaking.' They said, 'Indeed, you do continue speaking.' He said, 'I am not like any one of you. Indeed, I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink.'"

يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade being in constant contact. So, it was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, do you not maintain relationships?" He replied, "Indeed, I spend my nights being fed and provided with drink by my Lord."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade intimacy during fasting, so I said to him, "Do you not engage in it?" He replied, "I am not like any of you. I spend the night being fed and watered."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فِي الصَّوْمِفَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ forbade being in constant companionship. It was said to him, "You associate with others." He said, "Indeed, I spend the night being fed and quenched by my Lord."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ قَالَ قِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Do not consecutively fast." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, but you consecutively fast." He said, "Indeed, I am not like any of you. Indeed, I am provided with food and drink (during the night)."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not continue fasting." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, but you continue to fast." He said, "Indeed, I am not like any of you. I spend the night and am provided with food and drink."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ أَوْ أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not continue." It was said, "Indeed, you do that." He said, "I am not like any one of you. I am fed and provided with drink."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تُوَاصِلُوا» قِيلَ إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not speak to me." They said, "But Prophet of Allah, you speak to us." He said, "I am not like any of you, for indeed my Lord feeds and quenches me."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تُوَاصِلُوا» قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنَّ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي»

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not continue to fast." They said, "Indeed, you continue to fast." He said, "I am not like any of you. I am fed and given drink."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تُوَاصِلُوا» قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى»

Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade Al-Wisal. The people said (to him), "But you practice it?" He said, "I am not like you, for I am given food and drink by Allah." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1962)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاصَلَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى»

عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إياكم والوصال قالوا يَا رَسولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لست مثلكم إني أبيت يطعمني ربي ويسقيني

"لَا تُوَاصِلُوا، قَالُوا: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: إِنِّى لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُم، إِنِّى أُطعَمُ وأُسْقَى".

"لَا تُوَاصِلُوا، قَالُوا: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: فَإِنِّى لَسْتُ مِنْكُم؛ إِنِّى أَبِيتُ يُطعِمُنِى رَبِّى وَيَسْقِينِى".

"لَا تُوَاصِلُوا، فَأيُّكُم أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوَاصِلَ فَليُوَاصِلْ حَتَّى السَّحَرِ، قَالُوا: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: إِنِّى لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُم، إِنِّى أَبِيتُ لي مُطْعِمٌ يُطعِمُنِى، وسَاقٍ يَسْقِينِى".
