I said: Messenger of Allah, from whom should we conceal our private parts and to whom can we show? He replied: conceal your private parts except from your wife and from whom your right hands possess (slave-girls). I then asked: Messenger of Allah, (what should we do), if the people are assembled together? He replied: If it is within your power that no one looks at it, then no one should look at it. I then asked: Messenger of Allah if one of us is alone, (what should he do)? He replied: Allah is more entitled than people that bashfulness should be shown to him.  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلاَّ مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ قَالَ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لاَ يَرَيَنَّهَا أَحَدٌ فَلاَ يَرَيَنَّهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا قَالَ اللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ  

from his father, from his grandfather, who said: "I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! Regarding our 'Awrah, what of it must we cover and what of it may we leave?' He said: 'Protect your 'Awrah except from your wife or what your right hand possesses.' He said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What about when some people are with others?' He said: 'If you are able to not let anyone see it then do not let them see it.'" He said: "I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! What about when one of us is alone?' He said: 'Allah is more deserving of being shy from Him than the people.'"  

قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلاَّ مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ قَالَ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لاَ يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلاَ يَرَيَنَّهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا قَالَ فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يَسْتَحْيِيَ مِنْهُ النَّاسُ  

“I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, with regard to our 'Awrah, what may we uncover of it and what must we conceal?' He said: 'Cover your 'Awrah, except from your wife and those whom your right hand possesses.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if the people live close together?' He said: 'If you can make sure that no one sees it, then do not let anyone see it.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if one of us is alone?' He said: 'Allah is more deserving that you should feel shy before Him than People.' ”

[Machine] "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what do we do with regards to our private parts from what we have vowed?'" He replied, 'Guard your private parts except from your wife and from those whom your right hand possesses.' I said, 'What if they are in each other?' He said, 'If you can ensure that no one sees your private parts, then do so.' They said, 'What if one of us is alone?' He said, 'Allah is more deserving of being ashamed of Him.' And he placed his hand on his private parts."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا نَأْتِي مِنْ عَوْرَاتِنَا مِمَّا نَذَرُ؟ فَقَالَ «احْفَظْ عَلَيْكَ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ وَمِمَّا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِذَا كَانَ بَعْضًا فِي بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ «إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَى عَوْرَتَكَ أَحَدٌ فَافْعَلْ» فَقَالُوا إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا وَحْدَهُ؟ قَالَ «وَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ» وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about our private parts? What can we come with and what can we expose?" He said, "Guard your private parts except from your spouse or what your right hand possesses." I said, "What if they are overlapping with each other?" He said, "If you are able to ensure that no one sees your private parts, then do so." I said, "What if one of us is alone?" He said, "Allah is more deserving that you should feel shy of Him."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ «احْفَظْ عَلَيْكَ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» قُلْتُ فَإِذَا كَانَ بَعْضًا فِي بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ «فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَى عَوْرَتَكَ أَحَدٌ فَافْعَلْ» قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا جَالِسًا وَحْدَهُ؟ قَالَ «اللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] I said, O Messenger of Allah, what are our nakedness and what do we avoid? He said, "Cover your nakedness except from your spouse or what your right hand possesses." Al-Hajjaby added in his narration, I said, "Can people see each other's nakedness?" He said, "If you can make sure no one sees it, then do not let them see it." I said, "But what if one of us is alone?" He said, "Allah is more deserving that you have modesty before Him."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ «اسْتُرْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» زَادَ الْحَجَبِيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قُلْتُ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ «إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَيَنَّهَا» قُلْتُ فَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا؟ قَالَ «فَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what should we do with our 'awrah (private parts) and what should we refrain from?" He said, "Protect your 'awrah except from your spouse and what your right hand possesses." I asked, "But what if we are alone with each other?" He said, "Protect your 'awrah as best as you can." I asked, "But what if we are in seclusion?" He said, "Allah is more deserving to be shy of."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا نَأْتِي مِنْ عَوْرَاتِنَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ «احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجِكَ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» قُلْتُ فَإِذَا كُنَّا بَعْضُنَا فِي بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ «احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ» قَالَ فَإِذَا كُنَّا فِي خَلَاءٍ؟ قَالَ «اللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what should we do with our private parts? What should we approach and what should we avoid?" He said, "Guard your private parts except from your spouse or those whom your right hand possesses." I said, "What if the people are together?" He said, "If you can make sure that no one sees them, then do not let anyone see them." I said, "O Prophet of Allah, what if one of us is alone?" He said, "Allah is more deserving of your shyness."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَاهَا قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا؟ قَالَ اللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَشَارَ الْبُخَارِيُّ إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فِي التَّرْجَمَةِ  

[Machine] He said, "O Prophet of Allah, our nakedness, what we present and what we conceal?" He said, "Preserve your nakedness except from your wife or those whom your right hand possesses." So I said, "What if the people are in close proximity to each other?" He said, "If you can prevent anyone from seeing it, then do so." I said, "What if one of us is alone?" He said, "Allah is more deserving that one feels ashamed before Him than before the people." This was mentioned by Al-Bukhari in his summary. And Bahz narrated from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet ﷺ, "Allah is more deserving that one feels ashamed before Him than before the people."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ فَقُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا كَانَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ قَالَ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَاهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا قَالَ اللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنَ النَّاسِ ذَكَرَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي التَّرْجَمَةِ مُخْتَصَرًا قَالَ وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ اللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحَى مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ

"احْفظ عَوْرَتَك إلا من زوجتك أو ما ملكت يمينُك".

(زاد في الصغير: قيل: إذا كان القوم بعضُهم في بعض. قال: إن استطعت ألَّا تُريها أحدًا فلا يَرينَّها، قيل: وإن كان أحدنا خاليًا؟ قال: الله أحق أن يُسْتحيا منه من الناس.

(حم، عم، ك، هق.) .  

" قلتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا نَأتِى مِنْ عَوْرَاتِنَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ: احْفَظْ عَلَيْكَ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجَتكَ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَإِذَا كَانَ بَعْضُنَا فِى بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ: إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَى عَوْرَتَكَ أَحَدٌ فَافْعَلْ قُلْتُ: أَرَأَيتَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا؟ قَالَ: فَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحَى مِنْهُ مِن النَّاسِ - وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ -".
