the Prophet said: "Let those among you with understanding and reason be close to me, then those after them, then those after them. And do not separate or dissention will occur among your hearts, and beware of the commotion of the markets."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الْآخَرُونَ أَرْذَلُ»
[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , "Beware of those who have dreams and interpret them, then those who follow them, and then those who follow them. Do not differ among yourselves, for it will cause your hearts to differ, and beware of the tumultuous markets."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «لِيَلِنِي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنَّهْيِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ وَلَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفْ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَهَيْشَاتِ الْأَسْوَاقِ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wipe our shoulders during prayer and would say, "Do not differ, lest your hearts differ."
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَيَقُولُ «لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ»
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to align our shoulders during prayer and would say, "Do not differ, for your hearts will differ."
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقِيمُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَيَقُولُ «لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ»
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to straighten our rows during prayer and would say, "Do not differ, so your hearts will not differ."
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقِيمُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَيَقُولُ «لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wipe our shoulders and say, "Stand up and do not differ, for your hearts will differ."
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ مَنَاكِبَنَا وَيَقُولُ «اسْتَوُوا وَلَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ»
The Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) used to touch our shoulders in prayer and say: Keep straight, don't be irregular, for there would be dissension in your hearts. Let those of you who are sedate and prudent be near me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them. Abu Mas'ud said: Now-a-days there is much dissension amongst you. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people of my generation are the best, then those who follow them, and then whose who follow the latter. After that there will come some people whose witness will go ahead of their oaths, and their oaths will go ahead of their witness." Ibrahim (a sub-narrator) said, "We used to be beaten for taking oaths by saying, 'I bear witness by the Name of Allah or by the Covenant of Allah." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2652)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then, there will come a people who will be obese and love obesity, they will give testimony before being asked for it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ يُسَمِّنُونَ وَيُحِبُّونَ السِّمَنَ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلُوهَا»
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to gently pat our shoulders (to make sure the row was straight) at the time of prayer, saying: ‘Keep (the rows) straight, do not differ from one another lest your hearts should suffer from discord. Let those who are forbearing and wise stand closest to me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 976)
