"إِيَّاكُمْ والجُلُوس عَلَى الطُّرُقَاتِ، فَإِنَّ أبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا المَجَالِسِ فَأَعْطُوا الطَّرِيقَ حَقَّهَا، قَالُوا: وَمَا حَقُّ الطَّرِيقِ؟ قَالَ: غَضُ البَصَرِ، وَكَفُّ الأَذَى، وَرَدُّ السَّلَام، والأَمر بالمعْرُوفِ والنَّهْى عَن المنكَرِ ".

The people said, "There is no way out of it as these are our sitting places where we have talks." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you must sit there, then observe the rights of the way." They asked, "What are the rights of the way?" He said, "They are the lowering of your gazes (on seeing what is illegal to look at), refraining from harming people, returning greetings, advocating good and forbidding evil."

The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Beware! Avoid sitting on the roads." They (the people) said, "O Allah s Apostle! We can't help sitting (on the roads) as these are (our places) here we have talks." The Prophet ﷺ said, ' l f you refuse but to sit, then pay the road its right ' They said, "What is the right of the road, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, 'Lowering your gaze, refraining from harming others, returning greeting, and enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil."

Avoid sitting on the paths. They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, we cannot help but holding our meetings (in these paths) and discuss matters (there). Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If you insist on holding meetings, then give the path its due right. They said: What are its due rights? Upon this he said: Lowering the gaze, refraining from doing harm, exchanging of greetings. commanding of good and forbidding from evil.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Beware of sitting on the roads. Perhaps Ma'mar said on elevated platforms." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have to meet in our gatherings." He said, "Then fulfill its rights." They asked, "What are its rights?" He said, "Greet each other with peace, lower your gaze, guide the one who asks for directions, order what is good, and forbid what is evil."
