One day the Prophet ﷺ went out and offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud and then went up the pulpit and said, "I will pave the way for you as your predecessor and will be a witness on you. By Allah! I see my Fount (Kauthar) just now and I have been given the keys of all the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth). By Allah! I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah after my death, but I am afraid that you will fight with one another for the worldly things."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الآنَ وَإِنِّي أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنْ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

The Prophet ﷺ once came out and offered the funeral prayer for the martyrs of Uhud, and proceeded to the pulpit and said, "I shall be your predecessor and a witness on you, and I am really looking at my sacred Fount now, and no doubt, I have been given the keys of the treasures of the world. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah, but I am afraid that you will envy and fight one another for worldly fortunes."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطُكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الآنَ وَإِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ خَزَائِنَ مَفَاتِيحِ الأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ بَعْدِي أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا وَلَكِنْ أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud eight years after (their death), as if bidding farewell to the living and the dead, then he ascended the pulpit and said, "I am your predecessor before you, and I am a witness on you, and your promised place to meet me will be Al- Haud (i.e. the Tank) (on the Day of Resurrection), and I am (now) looking at it from this place of mine. I am not afraid that you will worship others besides Allah, but I am afraid that worldly life will tempt you and cause you to compete with each other for it." That was the last look which I cast on Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِي سِنِينَ كَالْمُوَدِّعِ لِلأَحْيَاءِ وَالأَمْوَاتِ ثُمَّ طَلَعَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَأَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدٌ وَإِنَّ مَوْعِدَكُمُ الْحَوْضُ وَإِنِّي لأَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ مَقَامِي هَذَا وَإِنِّي لَسْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمُ الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَنَافَسُوهَا قَالَ فَكَانَتْ آخِرَ نَظْرَةٍ نَظَرْتُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

One day the Prophet ﷺ went out and offered the (funeral) prayer for the people (i.e. martyrs) of Uhud as he used to offer a funeral prayer for any dead person, and then (after returning) he ascended the pulpit and said, "I am your predecessor before you, and I am a witness upon you, and I am looking at my Tank just now, and I have been given the keys of the treasures of the world (or the keys of the world). By Allah, I am not afraid that you will worship others besides Allah after me, but I am afraid that you will compete with each other for (the pleasures of) this world."

The Prophet ﷺ went out and offered the funeral prayer for the martyrs of the (battle of) Uhud and then ascended the pulpit and said, "I am your predecessor and I am a witness against you. By Allah, I am now looking at my Tank-lake (Al-Kauthar) and I have been given the keys of the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth). By Allah! I am not afraid that after me you will worship others besides Allah, but I am afraid that you will start competing for (the pleasures of) this world."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطُكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الآنَ وَإِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

Once the Prophet ﷺ went out and offered the funeral prayers for the martyrs of Uhud, and then went to the pulpit and said, "I am a predecessor for you and I am a witness for you: and by Allah, I am looking at my Fount just now, and the keys of the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth) have been given to me: and by Allah, I am not afraid that you will worship others besides Allah after me, but I am afraid that you will strive and struggle against each other over these treasures of the world."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الآنَ وَإِنِّي أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنْ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

I shall be present there (at the Cistern) before you. I shall be your witness and, by Allah, I perceive as if I am seeing with my own eyes my Cistern at this very state and I have been given the keys of the treasures of the earth or the keys of the earth and, by Allah, I am not afraid concerning you that you would associate anything (with Allah after me), but I am afraid that you would be vying with one another (for the possession of) the treasures of the earth.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِيَ الآنَ وَإِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنْ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَتَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

the Messenger of Allah went out one day and offered the funeral prayer for the people f Uhd, then he went to the Minbar and said: "I am your predecessor and I am a witness over your."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاَتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ

I shall be present there (at the Cistern) before you. [AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for the martyrs of Uhud after eight years, like bidding farewell to the living and the dead. Then he ascended the pulpit and said, 'I am your predecessor and I will be a witness against you. Your meeting place is at the Basin, and I will be looking at it. I do not fear that you will associate partners or disbelieve, but rather, I fear that you will compete with each other in worldly matters.'"

[AI] Indeed, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم prayed for the martyrs of Uhud, then he turned away and sat on the pulpit. He praised and glorified Allah and then said, "O people, I am among you, I leave behind me life and death, and I am a witness upon you. By Allah, I do not fear that you will associate anything with Allah after me, but I fear for you that you will compete with one another in worldly matters." Then he entered, and he did not leave his house until Allah Almighty took him.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَقَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَإِنِّي عَلَيْكُمْ لِشَهِيدٌ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ اللَّيْلَةَ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَأَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَتَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا» ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا

[AI] He heard Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani saying, "The last thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us in his sermon was that he prayed upon the martyrs of Uhud. Then he ascended the pulpit, praised Allah, and praised Him. Then he said, 'I am leaving behind a legacy for you, and I am also a witness over you. I can now see my reservoir from my position. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will associate others with Allah after me, but rather I am afraid that you will compete with each other for it (worldly possessions)."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ يَقُولُ آخِرُ مَا خَطَبَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى عَلَى شُهَدَاءِ أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ رَقِيَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَأَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدٌ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الْآنَ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي أُرِيتُ أَنِّي أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ فَأَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ prayed for the martyrs of Uhud, then he went and sat on the pulpit, praised Allah and glorified Him. Then he said, 'O people, indeed I am amongst you now, but soon I will depart. And verily, I will bear witness against you, and indeed, by Allah, I am not afraid that you will associate partners with Allah after me. But I fear for you that you will compete with one another for worldly gains.' Then he entered his house and did not come out until Allah took his soul, and this was his last sermon before Allah took his soul."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَقَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَي عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَإِنِّي عَلَيْكُمْ لَشَهِيدٌ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ اللَّيْلَةَ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَأَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا» ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا وَكَانَتْ آخِرُ خُطْبَةٍ خَطَبَهَا حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered funeral prayers for the martyrs of Uhud after eight years, as if bidding farewell to the living and the dead. Then he ascended the pulpit and said, "Indeed, I am going ahead of you, and I am a witness over you. Indeed, your meeting place is at the pond (in Paradise), and I am looking at it from this position of mine. Indeed, I am not afraid that you will associate others with Allah, but I am afraid that you will compete with each other for worldly benefits." Ubay ibn Ka'b said, "This was the last gaze I cast at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One of them directed towards his conversation companion and the other did not mention Al-Laith ibn Sa'd after eight years."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ كَالْمُوَدِّعِ الْأَحْيَاءَ وَالْأَمْوَاتَ ثُمَّ طَلَعَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمٍ فَرَطٌ وَإِنِّي عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدٌ وَإِنَّ مَوْعِدَكُمْ الْحَوْضُ وَإِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنَا فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا وَإِنِّي لَسْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ أنْ تُشْرِكُوا وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمُ الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَنَافَسُوهَا» قَالَ عُقْبَةَ فَكَانَتْ آخِرَ نَظْرَةٍ نَظَرْتُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَحَدُهُمَا نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ صَاحِبِهِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the funeral prayer for the martyrs of Uhud, then he returned and sat on the pulpit, praised Allah and glorified Him, then he said, "O people, I am about to go ahead of you, and I will testify against you on the Day of Judgment, and indeed, by Allah, I can see my pond (in Paradise) and I am in my position (in the Hereafter), and its width extends from Al-Juhfah to Aylah. And indeed, by Allah, I do not fear that you will associate partners with Allah after me, but I fear that you will compete for worldly possessions. Then he entered his house and did not come out until Allah took him (in death)."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَقَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَأَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدٌ وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي وَإِنِّي فِي مَقَامِي وَإِنَّ سَعَتَهُ لَمَا بَيْنَ الْجُحْفَةِ إِلَى أَيْلَةَ وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنْ قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الدُّنْيَا وَخَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّمَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا» ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللهُ ﷻ

the Messenger of Allah went out one day and offered the funeral prayer for the people f Uhd, then he went to the Minbar and said: "I am your predecessor and I am a witness over your." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1954)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلَاتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ»

One day the Prophet ﷺ went out and offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud and then went up the pulpit and said, "I will pave the way for you as your predecessor and will be a witness on you. By Allah! I see my Fount (Kauthar) just now and I have been given the keys of all the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth). By Allah! I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah after my death, but I am afraid that you will fight with one another for the worldly things." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1344)

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحَدٍ صَلَاتَهَ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطُكُمْ وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إنِّي وَاللهِ لَأَنْظُرُ الْآنَ إِلَى حَوْضِي وَإِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ خَزَائِنَ مَفَاتِيحِ الْأَرْضِ أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا

"إِنِّى بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ فرطًا وَأنَا عَلَيكم شَهِيدٌ، وَإِن مَوْعِدَكُمْ الْحَوْضُ،

وَإنِّى لأَنْظُر إِلَيْهِ وَأَنَا في مَقَامِى هَذَا، وَإِنِّى لَسْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكمْ أنْ تُشْرِكوا، وَلَكِنْ أخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَنَافَسُوها".
