I was a companion rider of the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey called 'Ufair. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "O Muʿadh! Do you know what Allah's right on His slaves is, and what the right of His slaves on Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "Allah's right on His slaves is that they should worship Him (Alone) and should not worship any besides Him. And slave's right on Allah is that He should not punish him who worships none besides Him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Should I not inform the people of this good news?" He said, "Do not inform them of it, lest they should depend on it (absolutely).

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُفَيْرٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ هَلْ تَدْرِي حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لاَ يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ أُبَشِّرُ بِهِ النَّاسَ قَالَ لاَ تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا

While I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ and between me and him and between me and him there was only the back of the saddle, he said, "0 Muʿadh!" I replied, "Labbaik, 0 Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik!" he said, "Do you know what is Allah's right upon his slave?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best" He said "Allah's right upon his slaves is that they should worship Him alone and not worship anything else besides Him." Then he proceeded for a while and then said, "O Muʿadh bin Jabal!" I replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ:, Saʿdaik!' He said, "Do you know what is the right of the slaves upon Allah if they do that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "The right of the slaves upon Allah is that He will not punish them (if they do that).

بَيْنَا أَنَا رَدِيفُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلاَّ أَخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوهُ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

While I was a companion rider with the Prophet ﷺ he said, "O Muʿadh!" I replied, "Labbaik wa Saʿdaik." He repeated this call three times and then said, "Do you know what Allah's Right on His slaves is?" I replied, "No." He said, Allah's Right on His slaves is that they should worship Him (Alone) and should not join partners in worship with Him." He said, "O Muʿadh!" I replied, "Labbaik wa Saʿdaik." He said, "Do you know what the right of (Allah's) salves on Allah is, if they do that (worship Him Alone and join none in His worship)? It is that He will not punish them." (another chain through Mu'adh)

أَنَا رَدِيفُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مِثْلَهُ ثَلاَثًا هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ بِهَذَا

I replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik!" He said, "Do you know what is Allah's right on His slaves?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "Allah's right on his slaves is that they should worship Him and not worship anything besides Him." He then proceeded for a while, and again said, "O Muʿadh bin Jabal!" I replied. "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik." He said, "Do you know what is (Allah's) slaves' (people's) right on Allah if they did that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "The right of (Allah's) slaves on Allah is that He should not punish them (if they did that).

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا رَدِيفُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلاَّ آخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوهُ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Muʿadh! Do you know what Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet ﷺ said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Not to punish them (if they do so).

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَا مُعَاذُ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ قَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ and there was nothing between him and me but the rear part of the saddle, when he said: Mu'adh b. Jabal: To which I replied: At your beck and call, and at your pleasure, Messenger of Allah! He moved along for a few minutes, when again he said: Mu'adh b. Jabal: To which I replied: At your beck and call, and at your pleasure, Messenger of Allah! He then again moved along for a few minutes and said: Mu'adh b. Jabal: To which I replied. At your beck and call, and at your pleasure. Messenger of Allah He, (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you know what right has Allah upon His servants? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Verily the right of Allah over His servants is that they should worship Him, not associating anything with Him. He (the Holy Prophet) with Mu'adh behind him, moved along for a few minutes and said: Mu'adh b. Jabal: To which I replied: At your beck and call, and at your pleasure, Messenger of Allah! He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you know what rights have servants upon Allah in case they do it (i. e. they worship Allah without associating anything with Him)? I (Mu'adh b. Jabal) replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. (Upon this) he (the Holy Prophet) remarked: That He would not torment them (with the fire of Hell).

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلاَّ مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an ass known as 'Ufair. He (Mu'adh) observed: He (the Holy Prophet) said: Mu'adh, do you know what right has Allah over His bondsmen and what right have His bondsmen over Him? Mu'adh added: I replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. Upon this he (the Prophet remarked: The right of Allah over His bondsmen is that they should worship Allah and should not associate anything with Him, and the right of His bondsmen over Allah, Glorious and Sublime, is that He does not punish him who associates not anything with Him. He (Mu'adh) added: I said to the Messenger of Allah: Should I then give the tidings to the people? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do not tell them this good news, for they would trust in it alone.

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُفَيْرٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لاَ يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ قَالَ لاَ تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا

Mu'adh, do you know the right of Allah over His bondsmen? He (Mu'adh) said: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Messenger of Allah) said: That Allah alone should be worshipped and nothing should be associated with Him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What right have they (bondsmen) upon Him in case they do it? He (Mu'adh) said: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) said: That He would not punish them.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا مُعَاذُ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ قَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يُعْبَدَ اللَّهُ وَلاَ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ شَىْءٌ قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you know what Allah's right upon His slaves is?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "His right upon them is that they worship Him alone and do not associate any partners with Him." He said: "And do you know what their right over Allah is if they do that?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That He will not punish them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ فَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me when I was riding a donkey, and said: ‘O Mu’adh, do you know what Allah’s right over His slaves is and what His slaves’ right over Allah is?’ I said: ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said: ‘The right of Allah over His slaves is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him. And the right of the slaves over Allah, if they do that, is that He should not punish them.’”

مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to the date palm trees of Medina and said, "O Abu Hurairah or O Abu Hurrah, destruction is upon those who indulge excessively. Indeed, those who indulge excessively will be among the least on the Day of Resurrection, except those who say such and such about wealth.' Abu Hurairah replied, 'They are few, O Messenger of Allah.' The Prophet then said, 'Shall I not inform you of a treasure from the treasures of Paradise?' There is no power or strength except by Allah, and there is no refuge from Allah except to Him.' Abu Hurairah, do you know what is the right of Allah upon His slaves, and what is the right of the slaves upon Allah?' Abu Hurairah replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' The Prophet said, 'The right of Allah upon the slaves is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the slaves upon Allah is that He does not punish those who do not associate anything with Him."

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نَخْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْ يَا أَبَا هِرٍّ هَلَكَ الْمُكْثِرُونَ إِنَّ الْمُكْثِرِينَ الْأَقَلُّونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا مَنْ قَالَ بِالْمَالِ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَقَلِيلٌ مَا هُمْ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى كَنْزٍ مِنْ كُنُوزِ الْجَنَّةِ؟ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ وَلَا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ اللهِ إِلَّا إِلَيْهِ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ

[AI] I went out with the Prophet ﷺ in a garden, and he said, "O Abu Hurairah, the majority of people will perish, except those who say such and such, and they are very few." So, I walked with him, and then he said, "Shall I inform you about a treasure from the treasures of Paradise? There is no power or might except with Allah." He said, "O Abu Hurairah, do you know what right Allah has over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "His right is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." Then he said, "Do you know what right the servants have over Allah?" I said, "If they do that, then their right is that He does not punish them." I said, "Shouldn't I inform them of this?" He said, "Leave them, let them work."

خَرَجْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي حَائِطٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ هَلَكَ الْأَكْثَرُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ قَالَ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَقَلِيلٌ مَا هُمْ فَمَشَيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى كَنْزٍ مِنْ كُنُوزِ الْجَنَّةِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّهُ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ؟ فَإِنَّ حَقَّهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ قُلْتُ أَفَلَا أُخْبِرُهُمْ؟ قَالَ دَعْهُمْ فَلْيَعْمَلُوا

[AI] "That the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was on one of his journeys, and Mu'adh bin Jabal was with him. There was only the end of the ride between them when the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal.' He said, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service and at your pleasure.' Then, he walked for an hour and then he said, 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal.' He said, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service and at your pleasure.' Then, he walked for an hour and then he said, 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal.' He said, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service and at your pleasure.' He said, 'Do you know what right Allah has over His servants?' He said, 'Allah and His Messenger know better.' He said, 'Verily, the right Allah has over His servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him.' He said, 'Do you know what right the servants have over Allah if they do that?' He said, 'Allah and His Messenger know better.' He said, 'Verily, their right over Allah is that He does not punish them.'"

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِوَرَدِيفُهُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُمَا غَيْرُ آخِرَةِ الرَّحْلِ إِذْ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً فقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, "O Mu'adh, do you know what rights Allah has upon His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." He then said, "Do you know what rights the servants have upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "He will not punish them."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ لَا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ

[AI] Narrated a strange hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, "Yes, I used to place my foot on a donkey's rib. Mu'adh bin Jabal said, 'Here I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of Allah upon His servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him.' Then he said, 'O Mu'adh, do you know the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Their right upon Allah is that He does not punish them.'"

حَدِّثْنَا مِنْ غَرَائِبِ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ نَعَمْ كُنْتُ رِدْفَهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ إِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] I was sitting next to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Do you know the rights that Allah has upon His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That they worship Him alone and associate nothing with Him." He then asked, "Do you know the rights of the servants upon Allah if they fulfill that?" I said, "That He forgives them and does not punish them." Ma'mar said in his narration, "I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not give glad tidings to the people?'" He said, "Let them work."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ قَالَ دَعْهُمْ يَعْمَلُوا

Mu'adh, do you know the right of Allah over His bondsmen? He (Mu'adh) said: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Messenger of Allah) said: That Allah alone should be worshipped and nothing should be associated with Him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What right have they (bondsmen) upon Him in case they do it? He (Mu'adh) said: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) said: That He would not punish them. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا مُعَاذُ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ فَقَالَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللهَ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you know what Allah's right upon His slaves is?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "His right upon them is that they worship Him alone and do not associate any partners with Him." He said: "And do you know what their right over Allah is if they do that?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That He will not punish them." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2643)

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ وَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] I was sitting close to the Prophet ﷺ , and he said to me, "O Mu'adh, do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him. Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "He will admit them to Paradise."

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِي يَا مُعَاذُ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُقَالَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ يُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ

[AI] I used to ride behind the Prophet ﷺ on a red camel, and he said, "O Mu'adh!" I said, "Here I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said it three times, and I said it three times. Then he said, "Their right upon Him is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him. Do you know the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said it three times, and I said it three times. Then he said, "Their right upon Him is that He forgives them and admits them to Paradise."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَقُلْتُ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ حَقُّهُ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ فَقُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا وَقُلْتُ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَأَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ

[AI] Narrated from the wonders of the Prophet's speech ﷺ he said, "I used to be behind the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey. He said, 'O Mu'adh!' So I said, 'Labbayk, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of Allah upon His servants is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him. Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of the servants upon Allah is that He does not punish them.'

حَدِّثْنَا مِنْ غَرَائِبِ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَقَالَ كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that one day he rode on a donkey named "Ya'foor", his reins were made of a type of flax. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Ride, O Mu'adh!" So I said, "Go ahead, O Messenger of Allah." Then he rode and the donkey stumbled with us. The Prophet ﷺ started laughing, and while I was feeling sorry for myself, he did it again for a second time, and then a third time. Then he rode and the donkey walked with us. He put his hand behind and struck my back with a whip or stick he had. Then he said, "O Mu'adh, do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?" So I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him." He said, "Then he walked as Allah willed, and then put his hand again and struck my back. He said, "O Mu'adh, son of Mu'adh's mother, do you know the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants upon Allah if they do that is that He will admit them to Paradise."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ رَكِبَ يَوْمًا عَلَى حِمَارٍ لَهُ يُقَالُ لَهُ يَعْفُورٌ رَسَنُهُ مِنْ لِيفٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ارْكَبْ يَا مُعَاذُ فَقُلْتُ سِرْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ ارْكَبْ فَرَدَفْتُهُ فَصُرِعَ الْحِمَارُ بِنَا فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَضْحَكُ وَقُمْتُ أَذْكُرُ مِنْ نَفْسِي أَسَفًا ثُمَّ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ الثَّالِثَةَ فَرَكِبَ وَسَارَ بِنَا الْحِمَارُ فَأَخْلَفَ يَدَهُ فَضَرَبَ ظَهْرِي بِسَوْطٍ مَعَهُ أَوْ عَصًا ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ فَقُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ أَخْلَفَ يَدَهُ فَضَرَبَ ظَهْرِي فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ يَا ابْنَ أُمِّ مُعَاذٍ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ

While I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ as a companion rider and there was nothing between me and him except the back of the saddle, he said, "O Muʿadh!" I replied, "Labbaik O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! And Saʿdaik!" He proceeded for a while and then said, "O Muʿadh!" I said, "Labbaik and Saʿdaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" He then proceeded for another while and said, "O Muʿadh bin Jabal!" I replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik!" He said, "Do you know what is Allah's right on His slaves?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "Allah's right on his slaves is that they should worship Him and not worship anything besides Him." He then proceeded for a while, and again said, "O Muʿadh bin Jabal!" I replied. "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik." He said, "Do you know what is (Allah's) slaves' (people's) right on Allah if they did that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "The right of (Allah's) slaves on Allah is that He should not punish them (if they did that). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6500)

قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلَّا آخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is the right of Allah upon His servants?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." He asked, "What is their right upon Allah if they do that?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That He forgives them and does not punish them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ » قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ» قَالَ «فَمَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ » قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «يَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ وَلَا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ»

[AI] "I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ, with nothing between me and him except the back of the saddle. He said, 'O Mu'adh,' and I replied, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service.' كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلَّا مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ » قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ»؟ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

حَدِّثْنَا مِنْ غَرَائِبِ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ؟ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ يَعْبُدُونَهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ ؟ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

قَالَ كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا حُذَيْفَةُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ؟ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ يَعْبُدُونَهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِهِ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ سَارَ فَقَالَ يَا حُذَيْفَةُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ ؟ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ يَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ

قال كان معاذ بن جبل ردف رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النبي ﷺ تدري ما حق الله على العباد قال معاذ الله ورسوله أعلم قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حقه عليه أن يعبدوه ولا يشركوا به شيئا قال النبي ﷺ هل تدري ما حق العباد على الله إذا عبدوه ولم يشركوا به شيئا قال معاذ الله ورسوله أعلم قال ﷺ حقهم عليه أن يدخلهم الجنة قال معاذ يا رسول الله ألا أتي الناس فأبشرهم فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لا دعهم فليعملوا وَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمْهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ إلا بهذا الإِسْنَاد

[AI] I was in a row behind the Prophet ﷺ and there was nothing between him and me except the saddles. He said to me, "O Mu'adh!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right Allah has over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His servants is that they should worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he rode for a while and said, "O Mu'adh bin Jabal!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right the servants have over Allah if they do this?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants over Allah is that He will not punish them."

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلَّا مُؤَخِّرَاتُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] I was sitting next to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "O Mu'adh bin Jabal, do you know what rights Allah has over His slaves?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet ﷺ said, "To worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he said, "Do you know what rights they have over Him if they do that?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That He will not punish them."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «لَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was walking in front of me and he said, "Do you know the right of Allah over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "His right over them is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him." Then he said, "Do you know what their right over Him is if they do that? Their right over Him is that He will not punish them."

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْدَفَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَلْفَهُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ «حَقُّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ؟ حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] Narrated from the strange Hadith of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said, "I used to ride behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on a donkey, and he said, 'O Mu'adh.' I said, 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Do you know the rights of Allah on His servants?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Indeed, their right upon Him is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him.' Then he said, 'Do you know the rights of the servants upon Allah if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Indeed, their right upon Allah if they do that is that He will not punish them.'"

حَدِّثْنَا مِنْ غَرَائِبَ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ كُنْتَ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقًّا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rode on a donkey called Ya'foor, and its reins were made of leather. He said, "Get on, O Mu'adh." I said quietly, "Should I ride behind you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Get on." So, he made me sit behind him, and the donkey stumbled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and then rode for the second time, saying, "Get on." So, I rode and the donkey went on as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back with a whip or a stick that he had with him and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right Allah has over His slaves?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His slaves is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." Then, he continued riding as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back again and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right the slaves have over Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the slaves over Allah is that He admits them to Jannah (Paradise) if they do that."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَكِبَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ لَهُ يُقَالُ لَهُ يَعْفُورٌ وَرَسَنُهُ مِنْ لِيفٍ فَقَالَ «ارْكَبْ يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ سِرْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «ارْكَبْ» فَأَرْدَفَنِي خَلْفَهُ فَصُرِعَ بِنَا الْحِمَارُ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَضْحَكُ ثُمَّ رَكِبَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَقَالَ «ارْكَبْ» فَرَكِبْتُ فَسَارَ بِنَا الْحِمَارُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ قَالَ وَأَخْلَفَ بِيَدِهِ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا ظَهْرِي بِسَوْطٍ كَانَ مَعَهُ أَوْ عَصًا فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ أُمِّ مُعَاذٍ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ سَارَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ أَخْلَفَ بِيَدِهِ فَضَرَبَ ظَهْرِي فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذَ بْنَ أُمِّ مُعَاذٍ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أنْ يُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ»

[AI] I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ on a red camel, and he said, "Mu'adh." So I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "They should worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he said, "Do you know what the servants' right upon Allah is if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Their right upon Him is that He will admit them into Paradise."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ فَقَالَ «مُعَاذُ» فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا هُمْ فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ»

[AI] "I was walking behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, 'O Mu'adh, do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Allah's right upon them is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him. Do you know, O Mu'adh, what their right upon Allah is if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Their right upon Allah is that He will not punish them.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not give the glad tidings to the people?' He said, 'Leave them to perform their deeds.'"

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي يَا مُعَاذُ مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا تَدْرِي يَا مُعَاذُ مَا حَقُّ النَّاسِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ قَالَ «دَعْهُمْ يَعْمَلُونَ»

[AI] I was behind the Prophet ﷺ when he said, "O Mu'adh, do you know what the right of Allah upon His servants is, and what the right of the servants upon Allah is? The right of Allah upon His servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the servants upon Allah is that He does not punish those who do not associate anything with Him when they die."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ؟ حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ مَاتَ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا»

[AI] I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a donkey called 'Ufair. He said to me, "O Mu'adh, do you know what rights Allah has over His servants? That they worship Him alone and associate nothing with Him, and the rights of His servants over Allah is that He does not punish those who do not associate anything with Him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not give glad tidings to the people?" He said, "Do not give them glad tidings, for they may rely on it."

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُفَيْرٌ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا»

[AI] I was sitting beside the Prophet ﷺ when he said to me, "O Mu'adh, do you know what rights Allah has over His servants?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Their right upon Him is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." Then he asked, "Do you know what rights they have upon Him if they fulfill that?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Their right upon Him is that He will not punish them."

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me when I was riding a donkey, and said: ‘O Mu’adh, do you know what Allah’s right over His slaves is and what His slaves’ right over Allah is?’ I said: ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said: ‘The right of Allah over His slaves is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him. And the right of the slaves over Allah, if they do that, is that He should not punish them.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4296)

مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, 'O Muadh, do you know what is the right of Allah upon His slaves?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of Allah upon His slaves is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him.' Then he said, 'Do you know what is the right of the slaves if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'That He will not punish them.'"

كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a donkey, and he said to me, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, what is the right of Allah upon His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That they worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he said to me, "O Mu'adh, what is the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That He will not punish them."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Mu'adh, do you know what right Allah has over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "To worship Him and not associate anything with Him. Do you know what right the servants have over Allah if they do that? That He will not punish them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعَبِيدِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was riding on a camel with a saddle on it. He said: "O Mu'adh!" I said: "Here I am, at your service and at your pleasure." He said: "Do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Allah's right upon them is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him." Then he said: "Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is, if they do that?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Their right upon Him, if they do that, is that He should forgive them and admit them to Paradise."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ قَدْ شَدَّ عَلَيْهِ بَرْدَعَةً فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَيُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ»

I was a companion rider of the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey called 'Ufair. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "O Muʿadh! Do you know what Allah's right on His slaves is, and what the right of His slaves on Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "Allah's right on His slaves is that they should worship Him (Alone) and should not worship any besides Him. And slave's right on Allah is that He should not punish him who worships none besides Him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Should I not inform the people of this good news?" He said, "Do not inform them of it, lest they should depend on it (absolutely). (Using translation from Bukhārī 2856)

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ لَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَفَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ قَالَ «دَعْهُمْ لَا يَتَّكِلُوا»

While I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ and between me and him and between me and him there was only the back of the saddle, he said, "0 Muʿadh!" I replied, "Labbaik, 0 Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Saʿdaik!" he said, "Do you know what is Allah's right upon his slave?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best" He said "Allah's right upon his slaves is that they should worship Him alone and not worship anything else besides Him." Then he proceeded for a while and then said, "O Muʿadh bin Jabal!" I replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ:, Saʿdaik!' He said, "Do you know what is the right of the slaves upon Allah if they do that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "The right of the slaves upon Allah is that He will not punish them (if they do that). (Using translation from Bukhārī 5967)

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلَّا آخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ» فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ «أَتَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ» قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «حَقَّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

"يَا حُذَيْفَةُ: مَا تَدْرِى مَا حَقُّ الله عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ يَعْبُدُونَهُ لاَ يُشْرِكُونَ بِهِ شَيْئًا، يَا حُذَيفَةُ: تَدْرِى مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى الله إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟ يَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ".

"يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ هَل تَدْرِى مَا حَقُّ الله عَلَى عِبَادهِ، وَمَا حَقُّ العِبَادِ عَلَى الله؟ فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الله عَلَى العِبَادِ أن يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ يُشْرِكوا بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَحَقُّ العِبَادِ عَلَى الله أَلأً يُعَذبَ مَنْ لا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا".

"عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ: عُفَيْرٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُعَاذُ: هَلْ تَدْرِى مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلا يُشْرِكُوا بِه شَيْئًا وَحَقُّهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ: أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَفَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ قَالَ: لَا تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا".
