One day when I rode behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said (to me): Do you remember any poetry of Umayya b. Abu Salt. I said: Yes. He said: Then go on. I recited a couplet, and he said: Go on. Then I again recited a couplet and he said: Go on. I recited one hundred couplets (of his poetry). This hadith has been reported on the authority of Sharid through another chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ requested me to recite a poem from the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi Salt. So, I recited it to him and every time I recited a verse, he would say, "It is true," until I recited a hundred verses, and he said, "It is as if he is about to convert (to Islam)."
[AI] I was sitting close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he asked me, "Do you have any knowledge of the poetry of Umayyah ibn Abi as-Salt?" I replied, "Yes." He then said, "Recite some for me."
