"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'There is no man who purifies himself on Friday as he is commanded, then comes out of his house to the Friday prayer, and listens attentively until he finishes his prayer, but it will be an expiation for what came before it the week before."

عَنِ الْقَرْثَعِ الضَّبِّيِّ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْقُرَّاءِ الأَوَّلِينَ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَمَا أُمِرَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْجُمُعَةَ وَيُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ صَلاَتَهُ إِلاَّ كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ

[AI] To me, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you know what day is Friday?" I said: "It is the day that Allah brought together your fathers." He said: "But I know what day Friday is. If a person does not perform ritual purification well, then comes to Friday prayers and listens attentively until the Imam finishes his sermon, it will be an expiation for him for the sins committed between that Friday and the previous one, as long as he avoids major sins."

لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَتَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ قُلْتُ هُوَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي جَمَعَ اللهُ فِيهِ أَبَاكُمْ قَالَ لَكِنِّي أَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ لَا يَتَطَهَّرُ الرَّجُلُ فَيُحْسِنُ طُهُورَهُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي الْجُمُعَةَ فَيُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الْإِمَامُ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الْمُقْبِلَةِ مَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الْمَقْتَلَةُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you know what day is Friday?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." Then he said, "Do you know what day is Friday?" I said, "Yes." He said, "I don't know, it is assumed that it was asked four times whether he knew or not." He said, "I said, it is the day in which your father or your grandfather was gathered." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shouldn't I inform you about Friday? A Muslim man should not perform ablution and walk to the mosque and then listen until the Imam finishes his prayer, except that it will be an expiation for what is between that and the next Friday, as long as he avoids the major sins."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ (1 قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ 1) قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي زَعَمَ سَأَلَهُ الرَّابِعَةَ أَمْ لَا قَالَ قُلْتُ هُوَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي جُمِعَ فِيهِ أَبُوهُ أَوْ أَبُوكُمْ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ لَا يَتَطَهَّرُ رَجُلٌ مُسْلِمٌ ثُمَّ يَمْشِي إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ثُمَّ يُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الْإِمَامُ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا مَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الْمَقْتَلَةُ

[AI] About Qarthaei al-Dabbi, who was one of the first reciters, Salman reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "O Salman, what is the day of Friday?" Salman replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Salman, on the day of Friday, your father or your fathers congregate and I will tell you about the day of Friday. There is no man who purifies himself on the day of Friday as he has been commanded, then utters a word from his house until he comes to Friday prayer and sits and listens until he completes his prayer, except that it will serve as an expiation for what came before it from the previous Friday."

عَنْ قَرْثَعٍ الضَّبِّيِّ وَكَانَ قَرْثَعٌ مِنَ الْقُرَّاءِ الْأَوَّلِينَ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا سَلْمَانُ مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟» قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «يَا سَلْمَانُ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيهِ جَمَّعَ أَبُوكَ أَوْ أَبُوكُمْ وَأَنَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَمَا أُمِرَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَيَقْعُدُ وَيُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Salman, do you know what day Friday is?" I said, "It is the day in which your father or your fathers were gathered." He said, "No, but I will tell you about the day of Friday. There is no Muslim who purifies himself and wears his best clothes, and applies perfume from his family if they have it, then comes to the mosque and listens attentively until the imam comes out, then prays, except that it will be an expiation for him between that Friday and the next, as long as he avoids major sins, and that is for his entire life."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا سَلْمَانُ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟» قُلْتُ هُوَ الَّذِي جُمِعَ فِيهِ أَبُوكَ أَوْ أَبُوكُمْ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ وَيَلْبَسُ أَحْسَنَ ثِيَابِهِ وَيُصِيبُ مِنْ طِيبِ أَهْلِهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَهُمْ طِيبٌ وَإِلَّا فَالْمَاءُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي الْمَسْجِدَ فَيُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الْإِمَامُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي إِلَّا كَانَتْ كَفَّارَةً لَهُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى مَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الْمَقْتَلَةُ وَذَلِكَ الدَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'There is no man who purifies himself on Friday as he is commanded, then comes out of his house to the Friday prayer, and listens attentively until he finishes his prayer, but it will be an expiation for what came before it the week before." قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَمَا أُمِرَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَيُنْصِتَ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الْإِمَامُ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you know what day Friday is?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "However, I will tell you about Friday. If a man performs ablution and goes to the Friday prayer and listens attentively until the imam finishes his prayer, it will be an expiation for the sins committed between that Friday and the previous one, and will also prevent him from the temptation of killing."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَتَدْرِي مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «لَكِنِّي أَنَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ لَا يَتَطَهَّرُ رَجُلٌ ثُمَّ يَمْشِي إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ يُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الْإِمَامُ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَتْ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا مَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الْمَقْتَلَة»

"أتدرون ما يومُ الجمعةِ؟ هو اليومُ الذى جُمِعَ فيه أبوكم، إنى أخبركم عن يومِ الجمعة، ما من مسلمٍ يتطهرُ، ثم يمشى إلى المسجد، ثم ينصت حتى يقضى الإِمامُ صلاته إلا كانت له كفَّارة ما بينه وبين الجمعةِ التى قبلها ما اجتنبت المقتلة .

"أتدرى ما يومُ الجمعة؟ لكنى أدرى ما يومُ الجمعةِ، لا يتطهر الرجلُ فَيُحْسِنُ طُهُورَهُ ثمَّ يأتى يومَ الجمعة، فَيُنْصِتُ حتى يقضِىَ الإمامُ صلاته إلا كانت كفَّارة له ما بينه وبين الجمعة المقبلةِ ما اجتنبت المقتلةُ".

"مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كمَا أُمِرَ، ثُمَّ يَخُرجُ مِنْ بَيتِه حَتَّى يأتي الجمعة وينصت حتى يَقْضِيَ صَلاتَهُ إِلا كَانَ كفَّارَةً لِمَا قَبْلَهُ من الْجُمُعَةِ".

" يَا سَلْمَانُ: يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَة فيه جُمِعَ أَبُوكَ، مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَمَا أُمِرَ، ثُم يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْته حَتَّى يَأتِىَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَيَقْعُدَ فَيُنْصتَ حَتَّى يَقْضِىَ صَلاَتَهُ، إِلاَّ كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ ".
