Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his fatal illness came out, wrapped with a sheet, and his head was wrapped with an oiled bandage. He sat on the pulpit, and praising and glorifying Allah, he said, "Now then, people will increase but the Ansar will decrease in number, so much so that they, compared with the people, will be just like the salt in the meals. So, if any of you should take over the authority by which he can either benefit some people or harm some others, he should accept the goodness of their good people (i.e. Ansar) and excuse the faults of their wrong-doers." That was the last gathering which the Prophet ﷺ attended.

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ بِمِلْحَفَةٍ قَدْ عَصَّبَ بِعِصَابَةٍ دَسْمَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّ الأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا فِي النَّاسِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْمِلْحِ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْكُمْ شَيْئًا يَضُرُّ فِيهِ قَوْمًا وَيَنْفَعُ فِيهِ آخَرِينَ فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ فَكَانَ آخِرَ مَجْلِسٍ جَلَسَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ (in his fatal illness) came out wrapped in a sheet covering his shoulders and his head was tied with an oily tape of cloth till he sat on the pulpit, and after praising and glorifying Allah, he said, "Then-after, O people! The people will go on increasing, but the Ansar will go on decreasing till they become just like salt in a meal. So whoever amongst you will be the ruler and have the power to harm or benefit others, should accept the good of the good-doers amongst them and excuse the wrongdoers amongst them."

سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ مِلْحَفَةٌ مُتَعَطِّفًا بِهَا عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ عِصَابَةٌ دَسْمَاءُ حَتَّى جَلَسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَتَقِلُّ الأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا كَالْمِلْحِ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْكُمْ أَمْرًا يَضُرُّ فِيهِ أَحَدًا أَوْ يَنْفَعُهُ فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Ansar are my near companions to whom I confided my private secrets, People will go on increasing but the Ansar will go on decreasing; so accept the good of the good-doers amongst them and excuse the wrong-doers amongst them. "

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَالنَّاسُ سَيَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

The Ansar are my family and my trusted friends. and the people would increase in number whereas they (the Ansar) would become less and less, so appreciate the deeds of those from amongst them who do good and overlook their failings.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الأَنْصَارَ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَإِنَّ النَّاسَ سَيَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَاعْفُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed my elite, those whom I lean towards, are the people of my house and my close ones are the Ansar, so forgive those who do wrong from them and accept from those who do good from them."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَلاَ إِنَّ عَيْبَتِي الَّتِي آوِي إِلَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّ كَرِشِي الأَنْصَارُ فَاعْفُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ وَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Ansar are my close ones and my elite. Indeed the people shall increase and they shall dwindle, so accept from those who do good among them, and overlook those who do bad among them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَإِنَّ النَّاسَ سَيَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out wearing his clothes, then he said: "O people, the population is increasing while the Ansar are decreasing. Whoever is entrusted with authority among you, and can be helpful to someone, should accept from their benevolence and overlook their mistakes."

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُتَقَنِّعًا بِثَوْبِهِ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَإِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ يَقِلُّونَ فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْكُمِ أَمْرًا يَنْفَعُ فِيهِ أَحَدًا فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, the Ansar are my allies and supporters, whom I have sought refuge with. So accept goodness from their virtuous, and overlook the faults of their wrongdoers. For they have fulfilled what was upon them and that which remains is for them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ عَيْبَتِي الَّتِي أَوَيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَاعْفُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ أَدَّوْا الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَبَقِيَ الَّذِي لَهُمْ

[AI] The prophet ﷺ went out during his illness, with his head wrapped in a cloth, and said, "Indeed, people have increased while the Ansar [the supporters of the Prophet] have decreased until they become like salt in the food. So whoever among you is entrusted with any task, let him accept from the well-doers among them and overlook the wrongdoers."

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي مَرَضِهِ وَقَدْ عَصَبَ رَأْسَهُ بِخِرْقَةٍ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّ الْأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا فِي النَّاسِ مِثْلَ الْمِلْحِ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْكُمْ عَمَلًا فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي فَأَوْصَى بِالأَنْصَارِ خَيْرًا أَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ ويتجاوز عن مسيئهم فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ قَضَوُا الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَبَقِيَ الَّذِي لهم

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَإن النَّاسَ سَيَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَاعْفُوا عَنْ مسيئهم

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about the Ansar: "Accept the good from them and overlook their mistakes."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْأَنْصَارِ «اقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ»

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Ansar are my close ones and my elite. Indeed the people shall increase and they shall dwindle, so accept from those who do good among them, and overlook those who do bad among them." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3907)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يُكْثِرُونَ وَهُمْ يُقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , ascended the pulpit with a thick bandage wrapped around his head. He praised and extolled Allah, then he said, "Indeed, people are increasing in number while the Ansar (the helpers) are decreasing to the point where they will be like salt in a dish. So whoever among you assumes a position of authority and benefits some people while harming others, let him accept the good deeds of the righteous and overlook the mistakes of others." This was the last sermon that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , delivered before he passed away.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ قَدْ عَصَبَ رَأْسَهُ بِعِصَابَةٍ دَسْمَاءَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّ الْأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا فِي النَّاسِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْمِلْحِ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَمَنْ وَلِي مِنْكُمْ أَمْرًا يَنْفَعُ قَوْمًا وَيَضُرُّ آخَرِينَ فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَلْيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ» قَالَ فَكَانَ آخِرَ خُطْبَةٍ خَطَبَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى مَاتَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ كَرْشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَإِنَّ النَّاسَ سَيَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّونَ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ»

"احفظوا من مُحْسِنِ الأنصارِ، وتجاوزوا عن مُسيئهم ".

"أَقْبلُوا مِن مُحْسِنِهْم، وتَجاوَزُوا عن مُسِئيِهمْ - يعني: الأنصارَ".

"أما بعدُ، أنها الناسُ فإِن الناسَ يَكْثُرون، وتَقِلُّ الأنصارُ، حتى يَكُونُوا في الناسِ بمنزلةِ المِلح في الطَّعَام فَمن وَلي مِنكم أمْرًا يضُرُّ فيه أحَدًا، أوْ يَنْفَعُ فيه أحدًا فَليَقْبلْ من مُحْسِنِهم، وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عن مسيئهم".

"إِن الأنْصَارَ قَدْ قَضَوُا الذي عليهم وبقِى الذي عليكم، فَاقْبَلُوا من مُحْسِنِهمْ، وتجاوزُوا عن مُسِيئِهِم ".

"إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكثرونَ وتَقِلُّ الأَنصارُ، حتى يكونوا في الناسِ بمنزلةِ

الملح في الطعام فمنْ وَلِىَ منكم أَمرًا ينْفَعُ قومًا، ويضرُّ آخرين، فَليَقْبَل من مُحْسِنهم، ويتجاوزْ عن مُسيئِهِم ".

"إِنَّ عَيْبَتى الَّتِى آوِى إِليها أَهْلُ بَيْتى، وإِنَّ الأنصارَ كرشِى، فاعْفُوا عن مُسِيئهم وَاقْبَلوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ".

"إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نبىٍّ تَركةً، أوْ ضَيْعَةً، وَإِنَّ الأنْصارَ تَرِكتِى، وَضَيْعَتِى، وإِنَّ النَّاسَ يكْثرُونَ، ويقِلُّونَ، فاقْبَلُوا من مُحْسِنِهم، واعْفوا عن مسيئهم".

"أَهْلُ بَيْتِى والأَنْصار كَرشى وعَيْبَتى فاقْبَلُوا من مُحْسِنِهم وَتَجَاوَزُوا عن مسيئهم" .

"أُوصِيكُمْ بالأَنْصَار خَيْرًا، فَإِنَّهُمْ كَرشِى وَعَيْبتى، وَقَدْ قَضَوْا الَّذِى عَلَيْهم، وَبَقى الَّذى لهُم، فَاقْبلُوا من مُحْسِنِهم، وتجاوزوا عن مُسِيئِهم ".

"أَلَا إِنَّ عَيْبَتِى الَّتِى آوِى إِلَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتِى، وإِنَّ كَرِشِى الأَنْصَارُ، فَاعْفُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ، وَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ".

"أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ احْفَظُونى فِي هَذَا الْحَيِّ مِنَ الأَنْصَار، فَإِنَّهُمْ كَرشِى الَّذِي آكُلُ فِيهَا وَعَيبَتِى ، اقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهمْ، وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهمْ".

"الأَنْصَارُ كَرشِى وعَيبَتى، وإن الناسَ سيكثرون وهم يقلون، فاقْبلَواُ مِنْ مُحسْنِهم وتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسيئهم" .

"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ! إِنَّ الأنْصَارَ عَيْبَتى وَنعْلِى وَكرشِى الَّتِى آكُلُ فِيهَا، فَاحْفَظُونِى فِيهِمْ، اقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسنِهِمْ، وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ".

"يَا مَعْشَر النَّاسِ: إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَتَقِلُّ الأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا كَالْمِلْحِ فِى الطَّعَامِ، فَمَنْ وَلِى مِنْ أُمُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا فَليَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَلْيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ".

"جَلَسَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ عَلَيْهِ ملحَفَةٌ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهَا، عَاصبًا رَأسَهُ بِعِصَابَة دُهْمًا (* *)، فَحَمدَ الله وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تَكْثُرُونَ، وَتَقِلُّ الأنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُون (يَكُونُوا) كَالْمِلحِ فِى الطَّعَامِ، فَمَنْ ولُىَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ شَيْئًا، فَليَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ، وَيَتَجَاوَز عَنْ مُسِيئهم".
