I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "By Allah! I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً».

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is ˹at times˺ a sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ عَلَى قَلْبِي وَإِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ۔»

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him one hundred times each day.'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

his grandfather said: "The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'I seek the forgivenenss of Allah and repent to Him seventy times each day.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً

"I was harsh in the way I spoke to my family, but not to others. I mentioned that to the Prophet (saas) and he said: 'Why don't you ask for forgiveness? Ask Allah to forgive you, seventy times each day.'"

كَانَ فِي لِسَانِي ذَرَبٌ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَكَانَ لاَ يَعْدُوهُمْ إِلَى غَيْرِهِمْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الاِسْتِغْفَارِ تَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً

كَانَ فِي لِسَانِي ذَرَبٌ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَعْدوُهُمْ إِلَى غَيْرِهِمْ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: Indeed, I seek forgiveness from Allah more than seventy times in a day, and I repent to Him."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him one hundred times each day.' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3815)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ ﷻ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: My heart is invaded by unmindfulness, and I ask Allah's pardon a hundred times in the day. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1515)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ عَلَى قَلْبِي وَإِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

[AI] "I used to be a man who used to insult my family with my tongue, so I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to the fire.' He said, 'So where are you in seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times a day.' Abu Ishaq said, 'So I mentioned it to Abu Burdah and he said, 'And I repent to Him.'"

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ قَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةً مَرَّةٍ قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ فَقَالَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

كَانَ فِي لِسَانِي ذَرَبٌ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ لَا يَعْدُوهُمْ إِلَى غَيْرِهِمْ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ يَا حُذَيْفَةُ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

[AI] I heard Abu Al-Mughirah or Al-Mughirah Abu Al-Walid narrating about Hudhayfah that he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a person whose tongue slips, and this often affects my family." He said, "So where are you in seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times in a day and night, or in a night or in a day."

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُغِيرَةِ أَوِ الْمُغِيرَةَ أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ ذَرِبُ اللِّسَانِ وَإِنَّ عَامَّةَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ أَوِ اللَّيْلَةِ أَوْ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I used to have a problem with my tongue towards my family, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to Hell." He said, "So where are you with seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times a day." Abu Ishaq said, "I mentioned that to Abu Burdah, and he said, 'And I repent.'"

كُنْتُ ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ قَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ فَقَالَ «وَأَتُوبُ»

[AI] I heard Hudhaifah recite the saying of Allah Almighty: "So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin" [Muhammad 19]. He said, "I used to be a man who frequently insulted my family with my tongue, so I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to the Fire.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'So where are you from seeking forgiveness? Indeed, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times each day.'"

سَمِعْتُ حُذَيْفَةَ وَتَلَا قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ} [محمد 19] قَالَ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَخْشَى أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I was a man who used to insult my family, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to Hell." He ﷺ said, "Then where are you from seeking forgiveness? I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times a day."

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ فَقَالَ ﷺ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنِ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I have never seen anyone say "I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him" more than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .

مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَكْثَرَ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[AI] Hudhayfah said, "I complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the punishment of my tongue, and he said, 'Where are you with seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times every day.'"

قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ شَكَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَرَبُ لِسَانِي فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I was a man who often used to curse my family with my tongue, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to the Fire." He said, "So where are you in seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times a day."

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِيَ النَّارَ؟ قَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My tongue burns me and I often mention his family in a derogatory manner." He ﷺ said, "Where are you in seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day and repent to Him."

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَحْرَقَنِي لِسَانِي وَذَكَرَ مِنْ ذَرَابِتِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ قَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Indeed, I am afflicted with the scourge of the tongue. I have harmed my family with my tongue." He said, "So where are you from seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him one hundred times a day."

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي ذَرِبُ اللِّسَانِ قَدْ أَحْرَقْتُ أَهْلِي بِلِسَانِي؟ قَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

[AI] I have never seen anyone say more "I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him" than the Messenger of Allah.

مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَكْثَرَ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him one hundred times each day.' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3815)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ ﷻ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

"استَغْفروا رَبَّكُمْ، إِنى أسْتغفرُ اللهَ وأتوبُ إليهِ كلَّ يوْمٍ مائةَ مرَّة".

("أَين أَنتَ عن الاستغفارِ يا حذيفةُ، إِنى أَسْتَغفِرُ الله في كل يومٍ مائة مرةٍ".

"إِنَّهُ ليُغانُ على قلبى، وإِنى لأَستغفرُ اللَّه في اليومِ مائة مرَّة ".

"إِنِّى لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّه وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ في الْيَوْم سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً" .

"إنِّى لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّه وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ في الْيَوْمَ مِائَةَ مَرَةٍ".

"إِنِّى لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّه في الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مرّةً وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ".

"أَينَ أَنْتَ عن الاستَغْفَار يا حُذَيفَةُ؟ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِر اللهَ كُلَّ يومٍ مِائَة مَرَّة" .

"فَأَينَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الاسْتِغْفَارِ يَا حُذَيفَةُ؛ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ في الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيلَةِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ".

"وَاللهِ إني لأَسْتَغْفِرُ الله وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ أكثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَةً".

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: مَا رَأَيْتُ بَعْدَ رَسُول الله ﷺ أَكْثَرَ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ الله وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ، مِنْ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ ".
