Abu Shurayh al-Khuza'i reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should be good to his neighbours. Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his guest. Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should be say what is good or be silent."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

My ears heard and my eyes saw when the Prophet ﷺ spoke, and he said: “(1) Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor; and (2) whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest with his due reward.” He was asked: And what is his due reward, O Messenger of Allah? He said: “˹It is˺ a day and a night; and hospitality is for three days. Whatever is beyond that is charity for him. (3) And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.”

سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَايَ وَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَايَ حِينَ تَكَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: «(١) مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ، (٢) وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ».قَالَ: وَمَا جَائِزَتُهُ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ، وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ، فَمَا كَانَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهِ، (٣) وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest: his due is one day and one night, and hospitality is for three days; whatever is beyond that is charity. And it is not lawful for him to stay with him until he embarrasses him.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ، وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ، فَمَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ».

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet. (i.e. abstain from all kinds of evil and dirty talk).

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ» «وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ» «وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ۔»

My ears heard and my eyes saw the Prophet ﷺ when he spoke, "Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his neighbor generously, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should serve his guest generously by giving him his reward." It was asked. "What is his reward, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He said, "(To be entertained generously) for a day and a night with high quality of food and the guest has the right to be entertained for three days (with ordinary food) and if he stays longer, what he will be provided with will be regarded as Sadaqa (a charitable gift). And anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet (i.e. abstain from all kinds of dirty and evil talks).

سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَاىَ وَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَاىَ حِينَ تَكَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ قَالَ وَمَا جَائِزَتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا كَانَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَهْوَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not hurt his neighbor and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should unite the bond of kinship (i.e. keep good relation with his kith and kin); and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should talk what is good or keep quiet."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (or insult) his neighbor; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should entertain his guest generously."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ

My ears heard and my heart grasped (the statement which) the Prophet ﷺ said, "The period for keeping one's guest is three days (and don't forget) his reward." It was asked, "What is his reward?" He said, "In the first night and the day he should be given a high class quality of meals; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should entertain his guest generously; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good (sense) or keep quiet."

سَمِعَ أُذُنَاىَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ جَائِزَتُهُ قِيلَ مَا جَائِزَتُهُ قَالَ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour with kindness and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ؛ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ؛ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ۔»

He who believes in Allah and the Last Day does not harm is neighbour, and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day shows hospitality to his guest and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day speaks good or remains silent.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِي جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should do good to his neighbour and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to the guest and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either speak good or better remain silent.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him say what is good or remain silent." Other chains report similar narrations.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then he is not to let his wife enter the Hammam, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then he is not to enter the Hammam without an Izar. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then he is not to sit at a spread in which Khamr is circulated."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ بِغَيْرِ إِزَارٍ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُدْخِلْ حَلِيلَتَهُ الْحَمَّامَ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يَجْلِسْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُدَارُ عَلَيْهَا بِالْخَمْرِ

"Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him treat his neighbour well. Whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَمَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ صَدَقَةٌ»

"Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him treat his neighbour well. Whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3672)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ»

O people, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿWhoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where alcohol is being passed around; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter a bathhouse unless he is wearing a waist wrapper; and whoever (among women) believes in Allah and the Last Day, let her not enter bathhouses (at all).”

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلا يَقْعُدَنَّ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُدَارُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلا يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِإِزَارٍ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلا تَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ

"Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him treat his neighbour well. Whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3672)

عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

"My eyes saw the Messenger of Allah, and my ears heard him speaking when he was speaking and he said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him honor his guest with his reward.' They said: 'What is the reward?' He said: ' A day and a night.' He said: 'And hospitality is for three days, whatever is beyond that is charity. أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَانيَ وَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَايَ حِينَ تَكَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ قَالُوا وَمَا جَائِزَتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثٌ فَمَا كَانَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَقَالَ أَبُو كَامِلٍ وَلَا يَثْوِي عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ

"Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him treat his neighbour well. Whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3672)

عَنْ رِجَالٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللهَ وَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللهَ وَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللهَ وَلْيَقُلْ حَقًّا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet. (i.e. abstain from all kinds of evil and dirty talk). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6018)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or remain silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. His hospitality lasts for one day and one night. And the maximum duration of hospitality is three days. Anything beyond that is considered charity, and it is not permissible for him to keep his guest with him until he expels him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ لَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُخْرِجَهُ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi from Abu Shurayh al-Kabi that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or be silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his neighbour. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should be generous to his guest. His welcome is for a day and a night, and his hospitality is for three days. Whatever is more than that is sadaqa. It is not halal for a guest to stay with a man until he becomes a burden."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَضِيَافَتُهُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ

O people, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿWhoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where alcohol is being passed around; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter a bathhouse unless he is wearing a waist wrapper; and whoever (among women) believes in Allah and the Last Day, let her not enter bathhouses (at all).” (Using translation from Aḥmad 125)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُدْخِلْ حَلِيلَتَهُ الْحَمَّامَ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِمِئْزَرٍ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَجْلِسْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُدَارُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ»

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or keep silent. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest; his reward is a day and a night of hosting, and hospitality is for three days. Anything after that is considered charity, and it is not permissible for him to stay with him until he causes him discomfort."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتَ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا زَادَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ

أَن رَسولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ إلاَّ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فلا يؤذين جاره وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خيرا أو ليصمت

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ منكم يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فلا يؤذ جاره وَمَنْ كان منكم يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ ليسكت

قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فليكرم جاره ومن كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خيرا أو ليصمت

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter the bathroom except with a covering. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let your women not enter the bathroom.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِمِئْزَرٍ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ مِنْ نِسَائِكُمْ فَلَا تَدْخُلْنَ الْحَمَّامَ»

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said, "It is not permissible for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day, or for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day, to withhold his water from his child or any other person."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَوْ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَسْقِي مَاءَهُ وَلَدَ غَيْرِهِ»

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثُ لَيَالٍ فَمَا كَانَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ»

[AI] "O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ leave anything with you that you want to give me?" She said, "O neighbor, bring me that newspaper." So she searched for it but did not find it. She said, "Alas! Look for it, for it is of great value to me." So she searched for it and there it was, folded in her cloak. Muhammad ﷺ said, "He is not a believer who does not honor his neighbor with his hardship. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say what is good or remain silent. Indeed, Allah loves those who are modest, patient, chaste, and reserved, and He dislikes those who are obscene, foul-mouthed, and intrusive. Indeed, modesty is a part of faith, and faith is in Paradise. Obscenity is a part of baseness, and baseness is in Hell."

يَا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ هَلْ تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَكَ شَيْئًا تُطْرِفِينِيهِ؟ فَقَالَتْ يَا جَارِيَةُ هَاتِي تِلْكَ الْجَرِيدَةَ فَطَلَبَتْهَا فَلَمْ تَجِدْهَا فَقَالَتْ وَيْحَكِ اطْلُبِيهَا؛ فَإِنَّهَا تَعْدِلُ عِنْدِي حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَطَلَبَتْهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ قَدْ قَمَّتْهَا فِي قُمَامَتِهَا فَإِذَا فِيهَا قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ «لَيْسَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ لَمْ يَأْمَنْ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الْحَيِيَّ الْحَلِيمَ الْعَفِيفَ الْمُتَعَفِّفَ وَيُبْغِضُ الْفَاحِشَ الْبَذِيءَ السُّؤَالِ الْمُلْحِفَ إِنَّ الْحَيَاءَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْإِيمَانَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَالْفُحْشَ مِنَ الْبَذَاءِ وَالْبَذَاءَ فِي النَّارِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not enter the bathroom except with a wrapped waist (i.e. a cloth wrapped around the waist). Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not drink alcohol. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where alcohol is being consumed. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not be alone with a woman in seclusion unless there is a mahram (a close family member who is prohibited to marry) between them."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِمِئْزَرٍ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَشْرَبِ الْخَمْرَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَجْلِسْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُشْرَبُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَخْلُوَنَّ بِامْرَأَةٍ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا مَحْرَمٌ»

[AI] A man came to Fatimah, the daughter of the messenger of Allah, pbuh, and said, "O daughter of the messenger of Allah, did the messenger of Allah, pbuh, leave anything with you that you can give to me?" She replied, "O maid, bring me that piece of cloth." So I searched for it but could not find it. She said, "Oh no, search for it, for it is of value to me, both in terms of beauty and significance." So I looked for it and suddenly it was in her hand. Upon it, Muhammad, pbuh, said, "A believer is not one who does not fulfill the needs of his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak that which is good or remain silent." Indeed, Allah loves those who are modest, patient, weak, and self-restraining, and He abhors those who are obscene, vulgar, inquisitive, and meddlesome. Verily, modesty is a part of faith, and faith is in Paradise, while obscenity is a part of impudence, and impudence is in Hellfire."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَكَ شَيْئًا تُطْرِفِينِيهِ؟ فَقَالَتْ يَا جَارِيَةُ هَاتِي تِلْكَ الْجَرِيدَةَ فَطَلَبْتُهَا فَلَمْ تَجِدْهَا فَقَالَتْ وَيْحَكَ اطْلُبِيهَا فَإِنَّهَا تَعْدِلُ عِنْدِي حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَطَلَبَتْهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ قَدْ قَمَّتْهَا فِي قِمَامَتِهَا فَإِذَا فِيهَا قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ «لَيْسَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ لَمْ يَأْمَنْ جَارَهُ بَوَائِقَهُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخَرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ الْحَيِيَّ الْحَلِيمَ الضَّعِيفَ الْمُتَعَفِّفَ وَيُبْغِضُ الْفَاحِشَ الْبَذِيءَ السَّائِلَ الْمُلْحِفَ إِنَّ الْحَيَاءَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْفُحْشَ مِنَ الْبَذَاءِ وَالْبَذَاءُ فِي النَّارِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be kind to his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

O people, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿWhoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where alcohol is being passed around; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter a bathhouse unless he is wearing a waist wrapper; and whoever (among women) believes in Allah and the Last Day, let her not enter bathhouses (at all).” (Using translation from Aḥmad 125)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَقْعُدْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُدَارُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِإِزَارٍ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا تَدْخُلِ الْحَمَّامَ وَرُوِيَ هَذَا مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ مَرْفُوعًا

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)
