6. Book of Righteousness and Excellence (Iḥsān) (2)
٦۔ كِتَابُ الْبِرِّ وَالْإِحْسَانِ
ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الدَّالِّ عَلَى أَنَّ مُجَانَبَةَ الرَّجُلِ أَذَى جِيرَانِهِ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "The believer is the one who is trusted by people, and the Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe. And the migrant is the one who migrates from evil. By the One in whose hand is my soul, no one shall enter Paradise if their neighbor is not safe from their harm."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْمُؤْمِنُ مَنْ أَمِنَهُ النَّاسُ وَالْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَاجَرَ السُّوءَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَبْدٌ لَا يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ»
ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَمَّا عَظَّمَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا مِنْ حَقِّ الْجِوَارِ
"Jibra'il kept enjoining good treatment of neighbours until I thought he would make neighbours heirs." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3674)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ»
ذِكْرُ الِاسْتِحْبَابِ لِلْمَرْءِ الْإِحْسَانَ إِلَى الْجِيرَانِ رَجَاءَ دُخُولِ الْجِنَانِ بِهِ
The Prophet ﷺ said "Gabriel continued to recommend me about treating the neighbors Kindly and politely so much so that I thought he would order me to make them as my heirs. (Using translation from Bukhārī 6014)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ»
ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِإكْثَارِ الْمَاءِ فِي مَرَقَتِهِ، وَالْغَرْفِ لِجِيرَانِهِ بَعْدَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said: "When you cook a pot, increase its broth, for it is more generous to the family and the neighbors."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا طَبَخْتَ قِدْرًا فَأَكْثِرْ مَرَقَتَهَا فَإِنَّهُ أَوْسَعُ لِلْأَهْلِ وَالْجِيرَانِ»
ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ غَرْفَ الْمَرْءِ مِنْ مَرَقَتِهِ لِجِيرَانِهِ إِنَّمَا يَغْرِفُ لَهُمْ مِنْ غَيْرِ إِسْرَافٍ، وَلَا تَقْتِيرٍ
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "When you prepare a broth, add plenty of water to it, then share some of it with the people of your neighbors, and treat them kindly."
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا صَنَعْتَ مَرَقَةً فَأَكْثِرْ مَاءَهَا ثُمَّ انْظُرْ أَهْلَ بَيْتٍ مِنْ جِيرَانِكَ فَاحْسُهُمْ مِنْهَا بِمَعْرُوفٍ»
ذِكْرُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ مَنْعِ الْمَرْءِ جَارَهُ أَنْ يَضَعَ الْخَشَبَةَ عَلَى حَائِطِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should prevent his neighbor from fixing a peg on his wall."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ جَارَهُ أَنْ يَغْرِزَ خَشَبَةً عَلَى جِدَارِهِ»
ذِكْرُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ أَذَى الْجِيرَانِ إِذْ تَرْكُهُ مِنْ فَعَالِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ»
ذِكْرُ إِعْطَاءِ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا مَنْ سَتَرَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ أَجْرَ مَوْؤُودَةٍ، لَوِ اسْتَحْيَاهَا فِي قَبْرِهَا
[Machine] Uqbah said, "Woe to you! Do not do that, but advise and warn them." He said, "I have advised them but they did not stop, and I am threatening them with punishment." Uqbah said, "Woe to you! Do not do that, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever conceals the faults of a believing Muslim will be treated as if he revived a girl buried alive in her grave.'"
فقَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَيْحَكَ لَا تَفْعَلْ وَلَكِنْ عِظْهُمْ وَهَدِّدْهُمْ قَالَ إِنِّي نَهَيْتُهُمْ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهُوا وَإِنِّي دَاعٍ الشُّرْطَ لِيَأْخُذُوهُمْ فقَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَيْحَكَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ سَتَرَ عَوْرَةَ مُؤْمِنٍ فَكَأَنَّمَا اسْتَحْيَى مَوْءُودَةً فِي قَبْرِهَا»
ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ خَيْرَ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا لِجَارِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا
"The companion who is the best to Allah is the one who is best to his companion. And the neighbor that is the best to Allah is the one that is best to his neighbor." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1944)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ الْأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ»
ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَنْ خَيْرِ الْأَصْحَابِ، وَخَيْرِ الْجِيرَانِ
"The companion who is the best to Allah is the one who is best to his companion. And the neighbor that is the best to Allah is the one that is best to his neighbor." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1944)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ الْأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ»
ذِكْرُ مَا يَجِبُ عَلَى الْمَرْءِ مِنَ التَّصَبُّرِ عِنْدَ أَذَى الْجِيرَانِ إِيَّاهُ
[Machine] "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ complaining about his neighbor. The Prophet ﷺ advised him three times to be patient. Then, on the fourth or third time, he told him, 'Throw your belongings in the street.' The man did as he was told, and people would pass by him and ask, 'What happened to you?' He would reply, 'My neighbor has bothered me.' They would curse him, saying, 'May Allah curse him.' Eventually, his neighbor came to him and said, 'Take back your belongings. By Allah, I will never harm you.'"
«جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ جَارًا لَهُ فقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ «اصْبِرْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ أَوِ الثَّالِثَةِ «اطْرَحْ مَتَاعَكَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ» فَفَعَلَ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَمُرُّونَ بِهِ وَيَقُولُونَ مَا لَكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ آذَاهُ جَارُهُ فَجَعَلُوا يَقُولُونَ لَعَنَهُ اللَّهُ فَجَاءَهُ جَارُهُ فقَالَ رُدَّ مَتَاعَكَ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا أُوذِيكَ أَبَدًا
