"I will not teach you anything but that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to teach us. He said: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-jubni, wal-harami, wa 'adhabil-qabri, Allahumma ati nafsi taqwaha, wa zakkiha anta khairu min zakkaha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlaha. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min qalbin la yakhsha'u wa min nafsin la tashba'u wa 'ilmin la yanfa'u wa da'watin la yustajabu laha (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, old age, the torment of the grave. O Allah, make my soul obedient and purify it, for You are the best One to purify it, You are its Guardian and Lord. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a heart that is not humble, a soul that is not satisfied, knowledge that is of no benefit and a supplication that is not answered.)"

لاَ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ إِلاَّ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُعَلِّمُنَا يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا وَزَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلاَهَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ قَلْبٍ لاَ يَخْشَعُ وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لاَ تَشْبَعُ وَعِلْمٍ لاَ يَنْفَعُ وَدَعْوَةٍ لاَ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا

"When it was said to Zaid bin Arqam: 'Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah [SAW], he said: "I will not tell you anything but that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] commanded us to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-jubni, wal-harami, wa 'adhabil-qabri. Allahumma at nafsi taqwaha, wa zakkaha anta khairu min zakkaha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlaha. I am not going to say anything but only that which Messenger of Allah (may peace be upgn him) used to say. He used to supplicate:" O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from incapacity, from sloth, from cowardice, from miserliness, decrepitude and from torment of the grave. O Allah, grant to my soul the sense of righteousness and purify it, for Thou art the Best Purifier thereof. Thou art the Protecting Friend thereof, and Guardian thereof. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the knowledge which does not benefit, from the heart that does not entertain the fear (of Allah), from the soul that does not feel contented and the supplication that is not responded." كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم يُعَلِّمُنَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْهِرَمِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ اللَّهُمَّ آتِ أَنْفُسَنَا تَقْوَاهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلاهَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ قَلْبٍ لا يَخْشَعُ وَنَفْسٍ لا تَشْبَعُ وَعِلْمٌ لا يَنْفَعُ وَدَعْوَةٍ لا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا

"اللَّهُمَّ إِنى أعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ العَجْز، وَالكسَلِ، والجبن، وَالبُخْلِ (والهم - الظاهرية) وَالهَرَم، وَعَذَاب القَبْرِ، وَفَتْنَةِ الدَّجالِ، اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِى تَقْوَاهَا، وَزَكَهَا أَنْتَ

خَيرُ منْ زَكَّاهَا، أنْتَ وَلِيُّها ومَوْلاهَا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ علمٍ لَا يَنفَعُ، وَمِنْ قَلب لَا يَخْشَع، وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَصَلاة لَا تَنْفَعُ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَا يُستَجَاب لَهَا ".

"عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ: لَا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ، وَالْهَرَمِ، وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِى تَقْوَاهَا، أَنْت وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا، أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَنَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَقَلبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَدُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ".
