Ibn 'Umar said, "the Prophet ﷺ said, 'None of you should eat with his left hand nor drink with his left hand. Shaytan eats and drinks with his left hand.'"

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ يَأْكُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلاَ يَشْرَبَنَّ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ قال كان نافع يزيد فيها ((ولا يأخذ بها ولا يعطي بها))

When any one of you intends to eat (meal), he should eat with his right hand. and when he (intends) to drink he should drink with his right hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

None of you should eat with his left hand and drink with that (left hand), for the Satan eats with left hand and drinks with that (hand). Nafi' has made this addition in that:" Do not take up anything with that (left hand) and do not give anything with that" ; and in the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Tahir there is a slight variation of wording.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلاَ يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا قَالَ وَكَانَ نَافِعٌ يَزِيدُ فِيهَا وَلاَ يَأْخُذُ بِهَا وَلاَ يُعْطِي بِهَا وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ لاَ يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ

When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

That the Prophet ﷺ said: "Let none of you wat with his left hand nor drink with his left hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand." He said: There are narrations on this topic from Jabir, 'Umar bin Abi Salamah, Salamah bin Al-Akwa', Anas bin Malik, and Hafsah.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلاَ يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَعُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ وَسَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ وَأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَحَفْصَةَ

From Salim, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you eats, then let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand, and he drinks with his left hand."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

“Let one of you eat with his right hand and drink with his right hand, and take with his right hand and give with his right hand, for Satan eats with his left hand, drinks with his left hand, gives with his left hand and takes with his left hand.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِيَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَأْخُذْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيُعْطِ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيُعْطِي بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَأْخُذُ بِشِمَالِهِ

From Salim, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you eats, then let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand, and he drinks with his left hand." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1800)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, for the Satan eats and drinks with his left hand." Nafi' added, "Neither should he take with it nor give with it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِهَا وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا قَالَ وَزَادَ نَافِعٌ وَلَا يَأْخُذَنَّ بِهَا وَلَا يُعْطِيَنَّ بِهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should eat with his left hand or drink with it, for the Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with it."

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ prohibited a man from eating with his left hand.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ forbade a man from eating with his left hand.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ

“Do not eat with your left hand, for Satan eats with his left hand.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3268)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَأْكُلُوا بِالشِّمَالِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِالشِّمَالِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a person from eating with his left hand, for indeed Satan eats with his left hand.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] The Prophet (PBUH) said: "When one of you eats, he should not eat with his left hand. When one of you drinks, he should not drink with his left hand. When one of you takes something, he should not take it with his left hand. And when one of you gives, he should not give with his left hand."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَأْكُلْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلَا يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا أَخَذَ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا أَعْطَى فَلَا يُعْطِي بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you eats, he should not eat with his left hand. And when one of you drinks, he should not drink with his left hand. And when one of you takes, he should not take with his left hand. And when one of you gives, he should not give with his left hand."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَأْكُلْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلَا يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا أَخَذَ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا أَعْطَى فَلَا يُعْطِي بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] From the Prophet of Allah ﷺ , it is narrated that he said, "Whoever eats with his left hand, the devil eats with him, and whoever drinks with his left hand, the devil drinks with him."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ أَكَلَ بِشِمَالِهِ أَكَلَ مَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ وَمَنْ شَرِبَ بِشِمَالِهِ شَرِبَ مَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abu Bakr ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you eat, eat with your right hand and drink with your right hand. Shaytan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, as indeed the Satan eats and drinks with his left hand." And Nafi' added, "And neither should you take with your left hand, nor give with it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited a man from eating or drinking with his left hand, for indeed the devil eats and drinks with his left hand.

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيُشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, for indeed the Shaytan eats and drinks with his left hand."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you eats, let him eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, let him drink with his right hand. Indeed, Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."

رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

“Let one of you eat with his right hand and drink with his right hand, and take with his right hand and give with his right hand, for Satan eats with his left hand, drinks with his left hand, gives with his left hand and takes with his left hand.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3266)

"إذا أخذَ أحدُكم فليأخذْ بيمينه، وإذَا أعطى فَليُعطْ بيمينه، وإذا اكلَ فليأكلْ بيمينه، وإذا شرب فليشرب بيمينه، فإن الشيطانَ يأخذ بشِماله، ويُعطى بشماله، ويأكل بشماله، وبشربُ بِشِماله".

When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3776)

"إذا أكل أحدُكم فليأكل بيمينه، وإذا شرب فليشربْ بيمينه- فإن الشيطان يأكل بشِمالهِ ويشربُ بشماله" .

When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3776)

"إذا أكلَ أحدكم فلْيأكل بيمينه -وإِذا شَرِب فلْيشربْ بيمينه- ولْيأخذْ بيمينه- ولْيُعْطِ بيمينه فإن الشيطانَ يأكلُ بِشِمالِه ويشرَبُ بِشِمالِه ويُعطى بِشِماله ويأخُذُ بِشِماله" .

"إِذا أكلَ أحدُكم فَلَا يأكل بِشماله- وإِذا شربِ فَلَا يشربْ بِشمالهِ وإِذا أخذَ فلا يأخْذ بِشمالهِ وإذا أَعطى فلا يعطِ بِشماله".

"لِيَأكُلْ أَحدُكُم بيَمِينِه ويَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينهِ، وَلْيَأخُذْ بِيَمِينِهِ، وَلْيَعْطِ بِيَمِينِهِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيطَانَ يأكُلُ بِشِمَالِه، ويَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِه وَيُعْطِى بِشِمَالِهِ، ويأخُذُ بِشِمَالِهِ، ويأخُذُ بِشِمَالِهِ".

"مَنْ أَكَلَ بِشِمَالِه أَكَلَ مَعَهُ الشَّيطَانُ، وَمَنْ شَرِبَ بِشِمَالِهِ شَرِبَ مَعَهُ الشَّيطَان".

"لا تَأكُلُوا بِشِمَالِكُمْ، وَلا تَشْرَبُوا بِشِمَالِكُمْ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ (ويشرب بشماله) ".

"لا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ بشمَالِهِ وَلا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا، فَإِنَّ الشَّيطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا".
