ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ ثَانٍ يُصَرِّحْ بِصِحَّةِ مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ

ibnhibban:5229 – ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad al-Azdī > Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm > Shujāʿ b. al-Walīd > ʿUmar b. Muḥammad > Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh from his father

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, as indeed the Satan eats and drinks with his left hand." And Nafi' added, "And neither should you take with your left hand, nor give with it."  

ابن حبّان:٥٢٢٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبْ بِهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِهَا وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا» وَزَادَ فِيهِ نَافِعٌ «وَلَا يَأْخُذَنَّ بِهَا وَلَا يُعْطَيْنَ بِهَا»

None of you should eat with his left hand and drink with that (left hand), for the Satan eats with left hand and drinks with that (hand). Nafi' has made this addition in that:" Do not take up anything with that (left hand) and do not give anything with that" ; and in the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Tahir there is a slight variation of wording.  

مسلم:٢٠٢٠c – وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ وَحَرْمَلَةُ قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ حَرْمَلَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

From Salim, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you eats, then let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand, and he drinks with his left hand."  

الترمذي:١٨٠٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

ابن ماجة:٣٢٦٦ – حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْهِقْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abu Bakr ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you eat, eat with your right hand and drink with your right hand. Shaytan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."  

مالك:٤٩-٦ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

From Salim, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you eats, then let him eat with his right hand, and let him drink with his right hand, for indeed Ash-Shaitan eats with his left hand, and he drinks with his left hand." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1800)   

أحمد:٥٥١٤ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ  

ahmad:8590 – ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith > Ibn Jurayj > Nuʿmān / Ibn Rāshid al-Jazarī > Ibn Shihāb > Ibn al-Musayyib > Abū Hurayrah

When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3776)  

أحمد:٨٥٩٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نُعْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ رَاشِدٍ الْجَزَرِيَّ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ

When any one of you intends to eat (meal), he should eat with his right hand. and when he (intends) to drink he should drink with his right hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Muslim 2020a)  

الدارمي:٢٠٧٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَنَفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»
