We complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was reclining on a cloak of his in the shade of the Kabah. We said to him: “Will you not seek help for us? Will you not supplicate to Allah for us?” He said: “Among those before you, a man would be dug a trench in the ground and placed in it; then a saw would be brought and set upon his head and he would be split into two, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. And he would be combed with iron combs, scraping away what was beneath his flesh—down to bone or sinew—yet that would not turn him away from his religion.”
Then he said: “By Allah, Allah will surely bring this matter to completion, until a rider travels from San‘a to Hadramawt fearing none but Allah—or a wolf for his sheep. But you are being hasty.”
